Winnie’s was our meetup place before heading to see Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club literally right across the street, so super convenient. It’s upstairs on the 2nd floor, definitely a dive bar vibe with a lively, energetic crowd. I’ve heard they have a good happy hour, but only on select drinks from their HH menu. Heads up: if you want extras, like the tequila shots I ordered for the table, those are full price (of course) but even at full price it was still a good deal. Ended up chasing them with some wine, lol. Bartender was quick and kept things moving. Overall, a fun, laid-back hangout while waiting for the Kit Kat Club doors to open.
Puts all their focus’s on 19 years old and doesn’t care about the the art of karaoke

want to like this bar so badly but every time I come here with friends the experience is really weird and unpleasant! most of the time they never play your song even if you tip and let one group do like 6 😭 and the one visit they did actually play my song it was wayyy ahead of my friends who put theirs in before me, and the Second I went in the bathroom. The bartender was on the mic like “whooooo chose this?? hello? anyone?” It honestly feels like being messed with haha
Found this hidden gem with cheap beer and a guaranteed fun time. We went on a Sunday night where it was a little quieter and got to sing a bunch. Bartender was great and the place was clean.

I really want to rate this place higher cause I usually have a blast but the karaoke dude took bribes to let a goofy ass family cut the line and sing like 10 shitty songs in a row.
Update: karaoke dude skips songs every time I’m there, this place continues to worsen every time I go back.

This is no longer the fun local karaoke spot it once was because of that one bartender. I submitted karaoke song requests (think Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston—crowd pleasers) at 8pm while it was still pretty empty. Waited for over 3 hours in hopes that ANY of the songs would be played. Nope none at all at 11:30PM so I left meanwhile people who came in after me got to perform 3-4 songs already. Idk what is up with the person handling the song queue but this is not it. I want to give it a higher rating because it is a cultural institution of the neighborhood but I cannot after experiencing the service I did.
i've been coming to winnie's for several years...
saddened to say i won't be returning. this is not the fun karaoke community bar it once was - this place employs people who hate women and completely disrespects paying customers to be in with the 'cool' kids.
Very aggressive security and when addressed with the manager nothing was done to resolve the issue. Will NEVER go back especially if they hire employees who SCREAM IN WOMENS FACE!!! It got to a point where the security had to be dragged away.
Very disturbing!
one of the worst, most racist experiences i've had at a bar in new york.

The bartenders are really rude and they’ll lie to you on your face. Will never go back to this bar again. The bar isn’t the problem, the bartenders are.

Used to be a great bar with tough but fair bartenders, now it gets overrun with kids and the younger bartenders have trouble handling over-served children.
Bring back the redskins fan bartender!!
