I really want to rate this place higher cause I usually have a blast but the karaoke dude took bribes to let a goofy ass family cut the line and sing like 10 shitty songs in a row.
Update: karaoke dude skips songs every time I’m there, this place continues to worsen every time I go back.
This is no longer the fun local karaoke spot it once was because of that one bartender. I submitted karaoke song requests (think Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston—crowd pleasers) at 8pm while it was still pretty empty. Waited for over 3 hours in hopes that ANY of the songs would be played. Nope none at all at 11:30PM so I left meanwhile people who came in after me got to perform 3-4 songs already. Idk what is up with the person handling the song queue but this is not it. I want to give it a higher rating because it is a cultural institution of the neighborhood but I cannot after experiencing the service I did.
i've been coming to winnie's for several years...
saddened to say i won't be returning. this is not the fun karaoke community bar it once was - this place employs people who hate women and completely disrespects paying customers to be in with the 'cool' kids.
Very aggressive security and when addressed with the manager nothing was done to resolve the issue. Will NEVER go back especially if they hire employees who SCREAM IN WOMENS FACE!!! It got to a point where the security had to be dragged away.
Very disturbing!
one of the worst, most racist experiences i've had at a bar in new york.

The bartenders are really rude and they’ll lie to you on your face. Will never go back to this bar again. The bar isn’t the problem, the bartenders are.

Used to be a great bar with tough but fair bartenders, now it gets overrun with kids and the younger bartenders have trouble handling over-served children.
Bring back the redskins fan bartender!!

Everyone is welcome here! 2nd floor space is a little hideaway! Low key, fun vibe, no pressure. Believe it or not before I started my nonprofit Inform Your Community, before I wrote 6 books, before I had 2 kids, and before I taught college for 20 years I went here constantly. They had a Hawaiian Punch drink that was amazing. Long since closed down, we found it again after the pandemic. Winnie, the owner, REMEMBERED ME!!!!!! Love her, love this place.

Great spot but pay them $1 with every karaoke song request or they’ll throw it away. They won’t tell you though,..so you just have to know…
Can’t promise great service (it won’t be)
so just bring great company
Ps you’re probably a worse singer than you think, that’s even funnier
