This was an impromptu dinner date that went well, but the service here is lackluster. They are constantly staring at you with a scowl, they take your drink order when you sit and then proceed to take forever to actually bring it over. We got one of our 3 ordered dishes before we actually got our bottle of beer and can of ginger ale. This is supposed to be a more refined experience when compared to Wo Hop, in hindsight I would skip this establishment and try somewhere else for the money spent.

Loved our meal at Wo Hop Next Door. It’s a great place to get authentic Chinese food. Pick anything and you will not be disappointed. We love the snails in black bean sauce (IYKYK) & the salted fish with chicken fried rice. But the food doesn’t disappoint. The service was great and was treated with respect and kindness. And it’s clean which is almost as important as the food.

Food is amazing. Served family style, so each meal is for 2 people. My daughter had curry beef with the noodles. AA+++

My family's go to spot in Chinatown for decades. The food has been consistently good for the most part.
If you're looking for AUTHENTIC chinese food, i'd recommend the following
Clams w/ black bean sauce (Clams are usually plump)
Boneless flounder w/ vegetables
Chicken (To be honest, I don't know the american name)
Lobster Cantonese Style (Crab also available as a sub)
Pro tip: Order white congee and mix with the minced pork
Enjoy!

Walked into 15 Mott St instead of 17 by mistake. Paid a total of $50 for takeout: 6 chicken wings a container of fried rice and a container of pork egg foo young plus an egg roll. One family member enjoyed the chicken wings. Everything else wasn’t good and wasn’t worth what I paid. Lesson learned. Won’t be going back.
Food was fresh albeit a little heavier than expect. Good and quick service.

We've been going to Wo Hop next door for 50 years. Food is very good, service is great. Atmosphere is loud and festive because it's always crowded and filled with folks having family dinners and tourists alike.

Whether it be the food, service or the price - it is perfect! 34$ for a very good meal for two.

It is, in fact, right next to Wo Hop. I appreciate the clarity in their name. Was not misled, felt very at home. My friend was a water FIEND for some reason and kept drinking the water, so I apologize belatedly for her consumption. But five stars on all fronts, would visit again.

UPDATE: I thought that we were at the ACTUAL WO HOP RESTAURANT. We were actually at THE WO HOP NEXT DOOR. Which is at 15 Mott st. THEY ARE DIFFERENT.
Now I see why no one was hardly in the restaurant and they rushed to get us in the door and seated. SHAME ON WO HOP NEXT DOOR FOR TAKING ADVANTAGE OF CUSTOMER WHO Don’t KNOW THERE IS A DIFFERENCE.

DISCRIMINATION ALERT‼️
So let me start off by saying that my parents use to take me here as a child to eat.
This is the first time I have been back since childhood.
I live in another state now, 10 hours away, but I am in NY this week visiting family and thought I would eat here to bring back good memories.
The staff is very friendly, attentive and welcoming.
The restaurant is very clean.
I’m giving 1-stars because the food had no flavor. And I have a few other concerns.
The food came out hot and fresh and looking great.
But it was disappointing.
Also, they are way overpriced for the quality of food you get and the lack of taste.
I don’t mind paying more money if the food is good.
But you’re better off to go to your local corner store Chinese restaurant for better food.
Also, everything is A La carte.
Lastly, it was strange that when they gave us our bill. They crossed out the TOTAL with a pen and wrote in and extra $10. That made no sense. We have no idea what the write-in fee was for. But maybe it was for the TIP???
And they did not do this to Everyone. It was like they targeted certain people, and added a tip/ fee to their bill.
I think that they think that certain people will not leave tips, so they use a pen to write in the tip on the bill.
We were going to tip anyway, so I kind of feel like they have DISHONEST/ DISCRIMINATORY practices.
It hurts that a place that brings back so many good childhood memories is now very questionable.

We got the steamed and fried dumplings, I recommend the fried dumplings more.
The Chicken Lo Mein was hearty and filling. I highly recommend it.

Today we took the A line from Far Rockaway straight into Chinatown to get some real Chinese cuisine. Guess what, y’all? No border pass needed 😄
We originally came for Wo Hop, but the line was a bit long. Luckily, Wo Hop Next Door welcomed us immediately and seated us right away. We ordered hot tea, beef fried rice, and beef with onions and peppers.
The fried rice came in a healthy portion with great texture—eggs scrambled throughout and light sprinkles of vegetables. The beef with onions and peppers was full of flavor and cooked in a delicious, savory broth.
Heads up: the restaurant is cash only, so my digital babies—come prepared. The service was no-nonsense but fast and efficient, exactly what you want in a spot like this.
9/10 recommend. Way better than your local Chinese joint—this one’s worth the trip.

We arrived around 4:30pm and waited in line 15 minutes. Then we were taken to a different line... one for small groups (we were only 2). Small groups were seated upstairs, large groups went down stairs. I don't know what its like down there but I did overhear a local insisting his group wanted to eat downstairs. Simple setting, good food, waiter a bit abrupt and pushy, but not too the point of being offensive (just being NY).

No, wait! We were craving quick, delicious food, and they only accepted cash. Everyone was delighted with the egg rolls—they were surprisingly crispy and not greasy at all. As soon as we settled in, they promptly brought us tea, water, and those delectable crunchy noodles with their delectable dipping sauces. The soup was a fantastic start to our meal.
