I tried the Green Chicken curry tonight and was not impressed. Dry chunks of chicken that were too big. Curry that had bite, but no depth of flavour. Vegetables a soft goo of cabbage and sick looking bok Choy.Don’t believe the photo on the menu board.

Yesterday afternoon I ordered lunch here. Only one person working there. It wasn’t busy. My interaction with her was so negative and unpleasant because of her rudeness that I immediately asked for a refund. I went to another stall for my lunch.

Food was beyond bad. The chicken was way to greasy and it tasted like they dont change the frying oil. The vegetables (lettuce) were soggy and seemed old and the rice was impossibly bad. I wouldn't recommend to a friend, but maybe someone I dont like?

First time in the food court and the food was good. The Singapore chili crab was a bit pricey $59.99 but the taste was great. Will come back again to try the black pepper crab.

They never have duck even though it’s listed on the menu. The rice is hard. The sauces are a fest of diabetes. If you want to waste your money on overpriced food that tastes mediocre and will leave you with diabetes then this is the place. Staff is nice though.

Hawker stall. Hawker food. Hawker culture. Yes. This is a culture of many Singapore, Malaysian, and Hong Kong eats where street hawkers are known to have the best taste with an excellent price. Wok & Staple is here to bring you their signature chili and black pepper crab from Singapore’s heritage restaurant Dragon Phoenix established in 1963 by Chef Hooi Kok Wai. Fresh Dungeness Crab made to order in two signature flavors. Add $5 per flavor for their black pepper and chili crab to get a taste of Singapore right here in NYC. The black pepper is also from Singapore guaranteeing that local hawker flavor you drool of. Their BBQ pork is tender and bursting with flavors melting in your mouth. Their signature Phoenix Pullet is super flavorful and aromatic. It’s simply marinated roasted chicken that makes you wanting more. All their dishes are authentically Singaporean. Wok & Staple is a hidden gem right in midtown Manhattan where you can get a taste of the East legitimately.Signature Black Pepper Crab & Singapore Chili Crab w/ Buns 59.80 +10 for two flavorsChinese BBQ Pork Set 16.80Phoenix Pullet Set 19.80

FOOD POISONING! I ate here on Sept 14th, 2023 and became incredibly ill with food poisoning. I had not eaten anything that day, and I had their pork over rice meal, it was the only thing I ate that day, and 6 hrs later I was vomiting for a whole day and the doctor confirmed it was classic case of food poisoning / food borne illness. I reported it to NYC 311. BEWARE!!!

I think people underestimate how difficult it is to get proper chili crab and black pepper crab in America. Is it as good as no signboard in Singapore? Sadly no, but does it save you a long flight. It is a solid option to scratch the itch. Now we just need to find a place with proper carrot cake, mee sua, and bak kut teh.

Paid 20dol for a bowl of rice and less than 80gr of chicken. No veggies. Overpriced.

With great expectations ordered the signature dish, Sweet & Sour Chicken. However, felt deeply disappointed. The sauce was tangy and sweet as expected but what is the point if the meat felt inedible. The chicken pieces were thickly coated with flour and felt hard and dry to chew. Couldn’t eat much and felt money was wasted. Did go back and provide feedback at the stall however the staff just shrugged the shoulder nd looked away.

Terrible. Why would I think it changed?? Can someone tell me the pork is better now or the veggies or Chinese?

A little pricey but delicious nonetheless!

I ordered chili soft shell crab at Urban Hawker location. It was disappointing. First of all, it was $20+ with tax so I was expecting something substantial. I thought there would be 2 pieces of crab but it came only with one small piece. It didn't even seem it was one whole crab because there was only one claw. It was supposed to come with vegetable, but there was nothing. Not sure if they forgot. All in all, not worth it.
