As a person who has traveled to Japan frequently, I consider myself to be very experienced in Japanese cuisine, and Japanese barbecue in particular. The food was absolutely excellent and I would recommend it to anyone, however, the true star of the night was the service given to us by one of your servers named Belal. He truly created a perfect atmosphere for us to enjoy the restaurant to its fullest.

The service and atmosphere aren't bad, but the taste is a bit off. At the end, the tip I paid for custom was low, so I was asked to raise it. Lol Toraji-san, please raise your salary. I think it would be nice if the taste was a little more delicious, at least the sauce alone. Thank you for the meal.

Forget about flimsy cuts - Yakiniku Toraji elevates the yakiniku experience with melt-in-your-mouth, high-quality meats. Each bite is a celebration of expertly chosen and impeccably butchered meats, cooked to perfection over your own grill. Prepare to be spoiled by the variety and sheer deliciousness - your taste buds will thank you!

When we step in the restaurant they asked us to finish by two hours, OK. There's only 3 courses and they give me the bill before the last course, ok. They charge far more than the value, OK. The mandatory percent tip is not on the receipt, they will chase you to ask you to pay more tip (already give the normal range) than you got from service on all, not OK.

It's my favorite restaurant.I got addicted to it for a while and went there four times a month (once a week).I go there when I want to eat Japanese-style Yakiniku.Recommended is Mino, a beef tongue with green onions added. Mino eats about 3 plates. At the end, they will serve you tea and mini ice cream similar to Yukimi Daifuku. It's more expensive than Korean-style BBQ, but I choose this when I want to eat in peace.I can also speak Japanese. It's my favorite restaurant. It tastes like Japanese-style yakiniku, just like the yakiniku you eat in Japan. My recommendations are the green onion salted beef tongue and mino.Eating it with lemon sour will make you feel happy.I'm also happy that tea and mochi ice cream are served at the end. This is a restaurant I would like to take my non-Asian friends to.

It's very cold day and not so many guest is there. They brought our orders very quickly which was OK, but my guests felt little uncomfortable, looks like they have to eat fast and leave the restaurant.

I give myself four stars since I have to cook the food myself LoL. I didn’t know it was one of those places otherwise I wud not come because I’m too lazy to cook myself. Honestly, I never understood such concept because if I was good at cooking I wud not come out to eat. To be fair, server offered to cook but he cooked one piece and then never came back LoL. I don’t fault him for this because he overcooked the beef and I rather do it myself if he can’t cook either. If you’re not good cooking at home, you’re not going to be Julia Child here. Even if you good at cooking, you don’t know the heat source here and cooking at perfect temperature is part of good cooking. It’s nice ambiance but I don’t think I’ll be back since not my style of restaurant.

Ambiance and food were great! We chose a la carte but would like to do set menu next time. High quality cuts of meat - the diamond cut kalbi and pork belly were particularly good. Service is good too but not super attentive.

Everything was delicious. Not the best at walking us through the menu or the cooking process but it was not too difficult to figure both out and we were impressed with the delicacy of the seasoning and sauces.

Yakiniku Toraji offers an exquisite dining experience with their delectable grilled meats. Our waitress was exceptionally attentive, providing impeccable service throughout our meal, enhancing our overall enjoyment. Her warmth and knowledge about the menu made our visit even more delightful. The ambiance, coupled with the flavorful dishes, makes Yakiniku Toraji a must-visit spot for a memorable dining affair.

In NY, the prices are reasonable and the quality is high. Having the privilege of experiencing A5 beef regularly, I must admit that I wasn't particularly moved by their offering. However, what truly impressed me was the substantial 'Tan' they served. I hold a deep appreciation for authentic Japanese restaurants, as they consistently uphold a high standard of professionalism among their staff and maintain immaculate restroom facilities that complement the dining experience.

Quality of the food was great however service could need some improvement. No one greeted us after being seated for over 10 mins. We came in to celebrate a birthday but no staff acknowledge the celebration throughout the entire dinner, which was disappointing.

Updating my review with photos: My whole family's official favorite Yakiniku choice in NYC, and even top 5 in the city. It's a no-frills restaurant that is still well decorated and elegant without the unnecessary fanfare. The Shimofuri Kalbi - Salt was on par with the meat we eat in Japan and the Scallion Rice was addicting. We also loved the Diamond Cut Karubi. Ending the meal with the Almond Pudding is a must.
