When we saw the Polish platter on the menu, we decided to try it. It was awful. Sausage was "cheap" and of poor greasy quality. What was supposed to be a "perogi" actually came on the plate as a small ravoli. Very disappointed for a plate that was rather pricey and certainly not worth the money. Don't order the Polish platter!!!!! We also tried what was listed as "antipasto." What we got was a lettuce salad.
The Royal Cafe has a great breakfast. Plenty of choices are modest prices. Specials are unbelievable - very inexpensive - plenty of food and served lightning fast. The sausage gravy and biscuits is in another area code. Biscuits are nice and light - have the perfect amount of crispness. Sausage gravy is thick, perfectly seasoned with plenty of sausage! Service is really good and attentive - no empty cups here! Lots of good choices for lunch or dinner as well. A real gem!
Located on Hyde Park Blvd, or maybe this section is Royal Street, it is not an area that I \noften frequent, but my attention was drawn to a coupon in the Lewiston Sentinel and then my wife and I asked about it from friends and they all recommended it.
