“Have had both breakfast and lunch here 4 or 5 times...Breakfast meals were always good with cheese omelets served with salsa on the side, sausage, toast and home fries. Always cooked to my liking. Lunch however has been hit or miss. I always order a cheeseburger with either fries or macaroni salad or regular salad. The cheeseburger is always ordered as medium well-done and is never cooked that way...always comes out over cooked or under cooked... The bun it is served on is so thick, you can hardly get it into your mouth. Please consider going with another bun that is a thinner bun. The salads are often perfect, sometimes with not all the same ingredients included though. Consistency in the house salad would be nice. With the waitresses serving, I would like them to be mindful, that they should check back once or twice during the meal to see if everything is acceptable or if anything else is needed, like a refill. Every time I have eaten here, they walk by the table, and even though I reach out to get their attention, they never return to address my concerns. What is up with that. Retraining by the owner is required. You WILL lose paying customers by customers experiences.“

“I love hometown diners, and this fits the bill. Nice to see friends gather in groups here. Different menu specials each day. Just wish they were open later into the afternoon.Wheelchair accessibility: Handicapped parking right in front of the building. Doors accommodate wheelchairs. Tables in the center along with booths. Did not use restroom facilities. Did not see Braille menu.“

“This has been our local go-to place, for many years and counting. When you think of "Hometown Diner/Cafe" what comes to mind is exactly what it is.It is a small, old diner. We go there for good comfort food. I am an adventurous foodie but when it comes to true and tried, all-time favorites - they do not disappoint.Hubby and I get our favorite "angry bird" sandwiches there, which are not on the menu anywhere else in the north country, and of course ice cream. In all my travels domestically and abroad, this is one of the very few places that I would travel extra distance to get ice cream from. As local BNB hosts, we recommend this place to our guests who want a "north country" dining experience. The service is great.Priced very reasonably. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot and along the road if you must. They offer dine-in or will prepare food for take-out.Will continue dining there.Suggested areas of potential improvement.1. Could use some updates with seating, lighting, bathroom, etc.2. I am not sure if the old garage bays next door are owned by the same people but I know a few local artists who could be commissioned to paint colorful mural-style art on those rather unattractive old bays and make the outdoor area more exciting.3. Outdoor tables are awesome, and very convenient, however during the warm season, when not cleaned promptly, which happens frequently, attract yellow jackets, it will keep even nonallergic folks on edge, or the sticky mess gets covered in dust making it harder to wipe with just a napkin. We have used our own cleaning supplies to clean them up in the past but we do not always have those with us in the car. Perhaps wiping them more often and providing customers with a way to wipe their own tables at busy times of the day could make the situation more manageable.4. Feature diner-style art from local north country artists and crafters.“

“The food is really good and the waitresses are friendly. My only complaint is that it is a bit dirty. I wish they would clean it up a little, the walls, tables, etc. My family loves to go there but I always feel as though I need to wipe the table down before we sit.“

“Spanky’s is a great place to grab a quick bite! It has the classic tiny town dinner look to it, and the food was delicious.4/5 because the waitress did forget to bring out a water, but overall the service was pretty good compared to other places.Spent around 16 per person with an appetizer and drinks, prices truly cannot be beat in this economy. Placing order to receiving the food was about 7 minutes, so if you need a quick bite this truly is the place.Highly recommend if you are in the Massena area!Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible with a non-steep ramp to enter. Handicap parking“
