We had a very nice meal here back in October. Our server, Shannon, was outstanding and took excellent care of us. The location is fantastic, sitting right on the water and made for a very pleasant meal. We had the calamari appetizer (very good), the Sauteed Flounder, which was okay and not worth $40, and the Gourmet Burger. I thoroughly enjoyed the burger. Since we came over on our boat, we weren't drinking, but the bar area looked pretty cool. We will come back again.
The place was hopping, and we were seated 15-20 minutes past our reservation, but the service was great (shout out to Jackson, the hardest working server ever)! The fried calamari is huge (4 people), and my scallops and husband's burger were delish! The main reason I gave 4 stars was that the crab cakes weren't great (should use jumbo lump).
My girlfriends and I have a tradition of coming to Ocean Beach every August and The Island Mermaid has become our lunch spot! Great food, refreshing drinks and excellent service .We love being on the water for lunch. All of the staff is wonderful and the owner is hands on .You can tell he loves what he does. We have never been disappointed and will continue our tradition at the Island Mermaid. For a refreshing treat you may be lucky enough to get one of Scotty's secret cocktails...
