Celebrated a birthday here for a friend. Food was good, our server was a really great kid named Tristin. He was very friendly, attentive and very pleasant. I think one of my favorite things here is the atmosphere, it's very "tuscan". I would recommend trying this place.

We have been here 4-5 times over the past 2 years, but tonight was the last time. First the positive, the ambiance is pretty nice, and whoever does the seasonal decorations is pretty awesome. We ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer, and that was really pretty good. When we go out, we don't mind spending money for a nice dinner, but when something is subpar, I expect to be treated with respect and taken seriously. Tonight I ordered a Cesar salad with grilled chicken.......pretty simple. The lettuce was wilted, the chicken was 5 paper thin slices tasteless and cold (+$6.25) bringing the price of the salad to $22.20....kind of a lot for a bowl of lettuce but I knew the price. I returned it to the kitchen, the young waiter apologized, my husband finished his dinner, we were given the check which we paid and left a 20% tip. On the way out, the owner was making pizza in the front, I told him the salad was terrible. He says it was made to spec. ( if that's their "spec" that's telling in itself) he said "it was taken off your bill" when we told him it was not, I told him that wasn't the point. He was very defensive which is not a good look for an owner with a customer that was disappointed with his food. Anyway, I now understand why the restaurant was so empty on a Thursday dinner hour. We all work hard for our money, I won't be back again.

The sub sandwich I had was good. The roll was especially good w/ crispy crust.

Food quality has gone downhill. I got the tortellini which was $17, pasta was crunchy and the sauce was acidic. My husband got the shrimp scampi which had no flavor and was swimming in oil. Hostess was very unprofessional and not dressed nice. Tablecloth on our table was visibly dirty and not washed. We got the mozzarella sticks which were $7 for 4. Not worth the price. I felt like I threw $60 out the window. Would of been happier at someplace else.

We went to Alfrescos tonight, Dec. 1st. We were a two top of adults and a four top of 14 year olds celebrating a birthday. We didn't set up a reservation but we were seated within 15 minutes. The place was bedecked in Christmas decorations but as there was no music playing it made everyone whisper. And when "Donnor" announced the specials it sounded like he was informing the whole restaurant. By the way, there was no one seated in the back, only the front, maybe 30 customers. And 3 or 4 servers. So not slammed at all. So "Donnor" takes our orders, the girls get pepsis and we order a blood orange margarita and an old fashioned. We get the drinks and order appetizers and dinners. We wait and the salads come out. Not a bad Ceaser salad but not great. We finish our salads and then "Donnor" tells us he forgot our appetizers and our dinners were ready, but he wouldn't charge us for them. Nice, as we never ate them. Two orders of wings and bruscheta. I don't know about the pizza, but our pasta and clam sauce was bland. No seasoning. Like they didn't even boil the pasta in salted water. Then I waited and finally got up to get salt and pepper and parmesan myself from the counter 5 feet away. "Donnor" was no where. Although he maybe had 4 tables. When he did show up, he didn't ask for more drinks, which we would have ordered, and the girls asked for ranch dressing. 5 minutes later I asked the kitchen for ranch and "Donnor" brought it out. Didn't ask if we needed anything, and disappeared. I asked another waitress if they could refill waters. Donnor showed up. Finally. We got our bill. $122.20. Pretty steep for two mediocre plates of pasta, 5 salads, a cheese pizza, and two drinks. We would have actually dropped another $30-50 on drinks and appetizers if they had served us those items. And we would have tipped 20%-30% if the service was good. As it was, we left no tip, told the owner how bad it was, and vowed to ourselves to never visit Alfrescos again until it's under new ownership. He didn't care. Didn't apologize. Acted as though he hears it everyday. The dude doesn't care. I urge everyone to stay far away from this place. Save your money and try another restaurant.

I've been coming to Oneonta from Westchester for deer hunting about 4 years now. While this place looks great from outside the entrees are not great at all. I've heard the pizza is ok but the pasta dishes? HORRIBLE. They make Olive Garden look like gourmet food. Last week I came in and the dining room area had only two tables occupied. For some reason it still took forever to be seated. Staff was too concerned with talking to friends at the bar or standing around. It's been like this every time I've come here. Once finally seated it took a while before the waiter came over. Seemed like a nice kid but he's wearing a baseball cap. I ask for rigatoni with bolognese sauce and meatballs. He tells me they don't have rigatoni, they only serve linguini, spaghetti or penne. Huh? I order it with penne. When it finally arrived I thought it looked odd so I take my fork and brush some of the red sauce off the penne. Get ready for this, their bolognese sauce consisted of sprinkling cooked ground beef over the penne and then they poured red sauce over that!! WTH?! I've never seen that in my life!! The penne pasta was mushy and far from "al dente". As soon as I was finished with the "food" I paid my tab and fled. I will never go there again. Denny's is better.

Nice atmosphere and charming outdoors-indoors decor. Chairs horrible; even my husband said so and he's not picky about what he sits on. We had a lovely time with old friends and family we don't see enough, but my food left a lot to be desired, and for some reason the kitchen got terribly backed up. The main dining room seemed full but we had a reservation which we made weeks in advance and our group was not large. Calamari appetizer was perfectly cooked and seasoned in a peppery coating. However that was about the only seasoning I encountered. The red tomato sauce on my pasta side was more like soggy chunks of tomato, with no flavor except sugar (no salt, garlic, oregano, basil, olive oil...) The side salad was big ragged pieces of iceberg lettuce crammed into too small a bowl. My eggplant was completely undercooked with soggy flavorless breading, and the "Florentine" filling was a few leaves of fresh spinach in unseasoned cheese (supposedly four cheeses but all I identified was ricotta). The whole dish was tasteless. I think others in our party enjoyed their entrees more but no one raved about how wonderful they were.

This really is a beautiful restaurant! I have been coming more and more often. I have tried all of the places in Oneonta I do believe this has the best meatballs. Go try it for yourself!
