I've been a regular at Island Kava for over a year, and it's so much more than just a place for great drinks. While the kava is top-notch, it's the incredible community that keeps me coming back. The kavatenders are always friendly and make sure you leave with a smile. The whole place has a relaxed, positive vibe with dimmed lights and chill music, making it the perfect alcohol alternative to unwind.

I regular the place. Chill spot to hang out and enjoy tea, coffee, or kratom.. Nice atmosphere to study or shoot the shit with locals

Island Kava Massapequa is one of my favorite spots to unwind. The vibe here is always on point — laid-back, clean, and super inviting. Whether I’m stopping in for a quick shell or hanging out for a few hours, the experience is consistently great. The kavatenders are awesome — friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to recommend something new to try. You can really tell they care about creating a great environment. If you’re in the area and haven’t checked it out yet, you’re missing out!

This establishment has a great atmosphere. The staff and the patrons are friendly. It's a nice place to hang out if you're not into drinking alcohol but still looking for a public space to have a good time.

The world needs more places like this. This tea shop has truly built a community that cares about one another which is so important and rare these days. Jen is super welcoming, as are the rest of the staff and the regulars too!

I work near Main Street in patchogue and never knew of this place until today. I thought it was a regular tea place and it is not. The woman at the bar was nice and aware that I was trying this place for the first time with no real understanding of their teas. She did tell me the tea helps to calm and relax but I took it as no different than chamomile. That is not the case. I was also unaware that you can’t drink alcohol 11 hour before or after drinking this stuff. I went out for cocktails after work & got extremely sick. Had I not gotten nauseous I could have keep drink and ended up in the hospital. You got to make people aware that is so dangerous.

I just want to say Alana and the staff at Kava are truly amazing. Remarkable and inspirational the vibes when you walk into a place like this are different. I urge you to give it a try. I was a first timer, and now I love it because it’s not just stuff that can help you cure things at the root, and not the symptom, but the people and the encouragement and vibe of the establishment is 100% pure and genuine love at the end of the day call a spade a spade thank you staff.

I changed my name for fear of retaliation as I know someone who is being harassed for a negative review. They keep deleting this review so I will make sure it stays up here. If they keep deleting it I will write a yelp review and make a website about this. I went here asking about health benefits of Kratom. I disclosed that I was newly sober and was so scared to take a mood or ming altering substance because I have relapsed many times and this is the first time I have been able to be sober for more than a month. I bought some to take home as I was told how it was harmless and non addictive and would be a good thing for my mental health and sobriety. I was told by a man at the bar, I believe Johnny or John was his name, and he said lots of people in the sober community take Kratom and say is very euphoric. I did my own research when I got home and thank goodness I did. I learned that it was HIGHLY ADDICTIVE and many young people are getting hooked. I found a network of people working to get sober from Kratom who were experiencing detoxes close to that of heroin. I felt so betrayed and I believe they saw me as a dollar sign and didnt care about my life or sobriety. It was like when doctors were prescribing oxycontin just to make more money, ignoring the fact they were causing an epidemic. This was no different. For your sake and the sake of your loved ones, please stay away. There were also adults taking the drug in the bar with their children which made me uncomfortable as well.

Be careful of or stay away from KRATOM (a highly addictive and mood-altering drug, banned in 6 U.S. states so far) if you are in recovery from alcohol or drugs and/or take medications. Kratom is classified as an “atypical opioid,” with withdrawal symptoms very similar to those of heroin, morphine, oxycodone, etc. They sell kratom as a “tap tea” or “Arnold Calmer” and don’t mention its potential for addiction/dependence or possible interactions with medications, if they even mention the word at all. In fact, the word “KRATOM” is NOWHERE to be found on their menu.Where’s the Department of Health when you need them? This review is intended solely for informational and educational purposes, as roughly 9 out of 10 people have still never even heard of this drug.

Kid-friendliness: Kids SHOULD NOT be allowed in this establishment. 21+ ONLY.
