Lovely place and very good lunch. Waitress was very nice.
Wonderful boat in or drive in experience. You can sit on the porch and gaze at the lake while drinking yummy drinks and eating yummy food. One of my favorite places in the finger lakes.
Beautiful view of the lake, service was great however the strip steak was terrible. Couldn't even cut it with a knife server spoke with owner who offered nothing to remedy my sons meal not even a dessert. $29 for a meal that wasn't eaten. Definitely will not be returning.
Location is great and if it had been less windy would have sat outside for our recent dinner. As we have noticed all summer, wait staff is in short supply, this location being no different. Service was a little slow and inexperienced. For appetizers, we ordered seafood chowder and fried calamari. Chowder was deliciously thick with large chunks of seafood and the calamari was served with pepper rings but no marinara sauce ( which was requested but never delivered). Two of us ordered chicken french- with the uneven cooking of the chicken pieces (combo of blackened or browned & not) and the huge artichoke heart which detracted from the dish, this didn't resemble similarly named dishes we've had before. When asked why one dish was served with vegetables, the other not, server said it was because one had pasta, the other potato! The Tuscan chicken special, also served with a huge artichoke heart, was non descript & just not tasty. Chicken parm (no artichoke heart!) was ok. Presentation of all items left alot to be desired. Sad to say, not a meal to recommend!
My wife and I were seated by a not so friendly older gent. We sat at our table and fifteen minutes later no server. I found the man and told him nobody has visited our table yet. He left and found us a waitress that did not seem very enthusiastic to wait on us. Maybe a local’s establishment? To sum it up the food was at best just okay and the service was horrible. Our waitress never even came back to check on our drinks. Our bus boy was better because he asked if we wanted more bread. One star for the nice view of the lake!
The view of the lake, especially at sunset, was amazing! The service was great, the food was good. We had the special of beef tips with mushrooms and onions over linguine. There was barely any meat and a lot of mushrooms, that was the only small concern. We were hoping to have filet, but it is no longer on the menu.
Very nice place.. love the outdoor dinning! Great view of the lake. Food was very good. Friendly service veruy relaxing evening. Definately going again . Highly recommend!!
Food was great. Staff was attentive. Even with a large family close to closing, not a single thing was rushed or missed. Will be back as soon as possible on our next trip to the lake. A real treat!
Came from out of town to visit family for my first excursion into New York. The service was prompt and excellent especially considering that we were there past closing time. The food quality was another matter entirely. The Buffalo egg rolls were fairly good but it was all downhill from there. The steamed clams were very gritty and overcooked. The fried calamari was soggy and overcooked. I had a chicken parmigiana over spaghetti and it was very bland with the noodles being overcooked. Other members of my party felt that their entrees were also very bland.I write this review to help them better themselves not to be mean. This place from what I have been told has been a local staple and it can be again if they find their passion again.
Drove up from Dryden and stopped for lunch yesterday and like most places they were short staffed. We sat on the deck and the waitstaff was terrific. A slight wait is no big deal with a cold beer and a beautiful view. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Will stop back again

Beautiful view but, unfortunately the food and service was extremely under par. We waited over 90 minutes for our food. The staff seemed stretched thin which forced them to give sub par service. Our meals were prepared incorrectly and tasted terrible.. We got pasta which was basically just cooked in broth, no sauce. I was hopeful for something better, given the location and beautiful views. Even the waitress was unhappy working there..
We had a great dinner with an excellent view of Keuka Lake. The food was delicious and our server Riley was great. Thanks!
After carefully reviewing all the restaurant options in Penn Yan, I had reserved this as being something special, based on the location and their website. I couldn't have been more wrong. We arrived early as advised to avoid a crowd, and were greeted by a waitress who didn't really seem to know how to be hospitable. Her appearance was unkempt and her manner was disinterested. On to the meals...I ordered the Sailor's Pasta (artichokes, mushrooms, bacon, spinach and chicken in a cream sauce. What could go wrong with that? It was tasteless...chicken appeared to be boiled and there wasn't even a hint of cream in the watery "sauce". My boyfriend's "special" consisted of a small piece of pan fried dry tuna with a pile of boiled carrots. That was it...no starch, no sauces, herbs, flavorings of any sort. All for $29. The total evening was a culinary disaster. I can't believe they have the nerve to serve such bad food, and I am not a fussy or snobby eater...I just want tasty food prepared well.
High-top seating at the bar provides excellent view of Lake Keuka. Enjoyed my grilled vegetable wrap. Would have liked a little more vegetables; it was mostly wrap. Not sure they could have fit more vegetables in and still been able to wrap the wrap. Requested it with the ranch sauce on the side and didn't end up using the sauce. Cole slaw side was good. Husband was not happy with his salad. The greens were not crisp or fresh; some had turned; so he ate all the other vegetables on the salad and left an entire bowl of greens. He noticed that most of the other patrons were ordering wraps and sandwiches; they must know what's good. Server was very good.
This restaurant is on a really lovely piece of property with a stunning lake view. You can eat on a large covered deck or enjoy the scenery from one of the windowed dining areas inside. There's also a good sized lawn by the lake for an after meal walk. I ate here once before, pre-pandemic. At that time the chicken was overcooked and it was again on this visit. On my previous visit I was wowed by the seafood chowder. Unfortunately they've now changed the recipe. The new version is very good, but not the stand out the previous one was. I would eat here again, because it's beautiful and comfortable. I would try something different, however. Five for ambience, three for food. At the time of our visit, staffing was a problem. The two servers on duty were both old hands, though, and with the help of the hostess things got done. And, really, why would you go to a place like this if you were in a rush. I appreciate the people who are willing to work and the dedicated folks at Top of the Lake contributed to a very nice experience.
