This diner disappointed me twice. Both times, my family and I had to wait for any kind of service. The first time, after we were seated, we waited at least 10 minutes for the waitress to even take our drink orders. It wasn't even crowded. Then, we decided to give it another chance. We were seated, but after 10 minutes, we didn't even get menus yet. No one acknowledged that we were even there. We got up and left. This place closed down now, but unfortunately, we do not have anything positive to post. We dine out a lot and expect good service everywhere! I give it "0" stars, but too bad I am forced to give it 1 star in order to post my review.

What a time capsule! It feels like you are stepping into a movie set. A local took me out for coffee and I splurged on a creamy strawberry cheesecake while we had a lovely chance to catch up in a booth. Highly recommend for the food, atmosphere and good service.

I was on vacation in the area and wanted to come back every day, the food is so good, the burgers are insanely good and the milkshakes are pretty big. The fried chicken is okay, maybe a little more seasoning but everything’s pretty worth it. I LOVE the curly fries, portion sizes are good and filling.

My family grew up on Long Island and moved out of state a few years ago. We were visiting family and the Plainview Diner was close to our hotel. Lots of options for breakfast. Our family decided on French toast, pancakes and an omelet. The food was average. We were most excited about the French toast, but it was our least favorite. The other items were as expected and OK. It was very expensive at about $20 per person. Waitress was very friendly and helpful.

Went with a friend today because we were shopping in Plainview. I ordered an omelette and my friend ordered a different omelette well done. I specifically asked her not to make my omelette well done. We waited 30 minutes for our food. Both omelettes came very well done. When I brought it to the waitress's attention she said she put it in correctly and asked me if I wanted another one. I asked her how long it would take and she said 30 minutes. I said never mind. Didn't have time to wait so long so I ate the least well done parts. I relayed this story to the cashier when I paid and she said sorry we are busy. I guess they are missing my point!

My second time here and great service and food each time. I'm happy to see that the prices are not astronomical like other diners have been lately. It's a diner on LI and I have only eaten basic things here and they've been good both times. Omelette, sandwich or burger and this spots for you.

This is the best diner. The food is always fresh, plentiful, and fairly priced. The staff genuinely seem kind and happy. Omelettes are always cooked to perfection. Wait staff doesn't rush you out and keep the coffee coming. Love the spinach and feta omelette. Also, I'm vegetarian now, but I used to love their corned beef hash (which clearly does not come out of a can) and eggs.

Worst diner on long island

I tried, I tried, only safe thing maybe to order is eggs, but beware of anything else on the menu...ordered for takeout a shrimp salad sandwich at 6PM on rye bread...bread was stale...the shrimp were scary...little slimy things...and the order should have included coleslaw but it didn't ...I was told they must have forgotten and I could come back and get it...$14.00 totally wasted...really wanted to patronize this place...but it's horrible!!

Great service. Coffee was actually really good. Mashed potatoes creamy. One of the few good diners left on LI.

I went to the Plainview Diner with my daughter on Saturday for dinner. My daughter ordered a Turkey Burger deluxe and I ordered a dinner which included salad or soup. After taking our order, the waitress brought coleslaw and pickle for my daughter. I was expecting a bread basket since I ordered a dinner and none came. When my soup came, there was one package of crackers and no bread basket. I tasted the coleslaw and it was awful. Just tasted like cabbage with no dressing. At this point, I asked for bread. The waitress brought me one roll on a plate and one roll on another plate for my daughter. Then my dinner came. While eating, I looked across the room to a family who had just sat down and their waiter immediately brought them a bread basket with rolls, crackers and breadsticks. I then asked to see the owner. When he came over, I explained the situation and his response was both unexpected and insulting. When I pointed out that the family on the other side got a bread basket, he said that he knew what this family was ordering and that I was entitled to only one roll because I ordered one dinner!!! He said that my daughter does not get bread because she ordered a burger. He also said that they have to throw out bread that customers do not eat. That is a really lame excuse for withholding a bread basket. I reiterated that I ordered a dinner and the waitress should have brought me a bread basket without being asked. I have been going to this diner for 40 years and believe me, I will never go there again. There are plenty of other diners in the area that would never treat customers like this and whose food is equal or better.

Staff was nice but the food was very bland. Normally, I like diner food but I think I'll skip this one.

Waited 15 minutes with two five year olds at the table watching people that came in after us already eating. Chicken tenders 1/4" thick burnt crusty mess. Immediately went back. "Vegetable platter" consisted of mashed potatoes probably made with water, lightly steamed spinach, basically raw broccoli and store bought baby carrots, no doubt fresh out of the bag. Top it off with pieces of toast, fully soaked in the water from the vegetables. Sorry, but worst meal I ever had in a diner. I understand short staffing etc but don't insult the customer pushing out food you know is garbage
