Literally one of the best options in Plattsburgh. Their breakfast sandwiches are heavenly, their baked goods are delicious, and the staff are fantastic!

Family owned breakfast joint right smack in the middle of downtown. Delicious sandwiches by experienced cooks, and high quality bakery items. Great place to sit and chill, or grab and go!
A must-stop whenever I'm in town.

nice little place, but nowhere I would want to be on a busy day. the Bakery offerings are disappointing, nothing you cant get anywhere else. Nothing here I can't just go and get at Price Chopper and for much less. Same goes for the other bakeries in this town, all the safe same-o same-o. boring, lame . my Bakery back home offers international confections, like Hong Kong Egg Tarts, French Pastry, Tiramisu, Tompouce.

Delicious! We went there for breakfast. 6 of us all ordered our own sandwiches and sat outside. The service was friendly and helpful. The food arrived promptly and most importantly everyone really enjoyed their meal. Will definitely come back.

My wife and I visited for the first time while looking for a place to have lunch. The menu looked interesting and the food offerings sounded delicious.
Paul Bunyan was the selection of choice that day.
Turned out to be a great decision as I barely left a crumb. Even finished the scant few morsels that my wife had left unprotected.
Very friendly and helpful while my wife and I decided our selection. Seating was more than adequate and not cramped. We sat at the counter seating which looked out onto the bustling of the area.
We both look forward to visiting once again when our travels lead us North once again. A fine taste of hospitality in Plattsburgh!
We went back up to the Plattsburgh area thinking that this would be the best place to revisit. We went last year, and the food and location were amazing!! This year the location had changed to an unassuming and lack luster building in the heart of town. There was no outdoor dining, and most of the menu had changed to breakfast sandwiches. A HUGE disappointment to say the least! We will not be back!

Showed up and ordered our food. 25 minutes later still no food. Asked how long it would be we're promised not more than 5 to 10 minutes. 25 minutes later we got our food.
I totally get being behind, being slammed and only having one cook. What I don't get is not being told when I ordered that they were 45 minutes behind and being trapped there waiting for my food
Norma J's food is excellent! The Pickled Pepper Burrito is yum! The sunny spot and welcoming atmosphere allows for extended conversations and more coffee!
Woke up craving a bagel. Have never been a patron of Norma J's and the kind associates working the front asked if it was my first time and they could tell. I was viewing the menu, a lot of it great and unique pairings of great ingredients.
I opted for the Shredder on a Jalapeño Cheddar bagel with a medium roast coffee.
It was all delicious and was a great setting to read a book and scarf down a loaded bagel.
Pretty overpriced for not the greatest of breakfast sandwiches. I’d frequent this place if it wasn’t 30$ for two breakfast sandwiches…
I will preface this by saying that my reviews are typically very blunt and are designed to help owners improve their businesses. With that out of the way—Norma J's new location is a great addition to the downtown area. The cashier at the counter definitely was a car saleswoman in her past life because she upsold me on a ton of stuff. Very friendly and great recommendations! Unfortunately got a mismarked breakfast sandwich (I don't eat meat) but the potato sticks were great-- definitely a top item along with the homemade quiche! I've been here a few times now and the food is actually pretty good and you can tell there is a lot of passion put into the products. The quality isn't always consistent but still worth trying to see what you like and don't (very well could be personal preference!). I never went to the old location but the new location is squeaky clean and has a diner-style vibe which fits perfectly as a grab & go breakfast spot. The other reviews comparing this to subway are definitely a bit ridiculous because it does have a nice variety and really maintains that small business feel that brings a uniqueness to the area. The owners aren't the friendliest bunch, but luckily the staff there has enough customer service skills to carry the team across the finish line. I look forward to seeing this business grow and hope for it's ongoing success. Norma J's scratches an itch Plattsburgh's downtown scene definitely needed. I highly recommend it, especially if you're on the run and need a quick bite in town.
Edit: apparently the owner was reading off my initial 4 star review to colleagues and customers (which is inappropriate/bizarre) and was furious. Instead of taking this feedback with an open mind, the owner deflected blame on me for my bad experience. My initial review was kind, patient and understanding because it’s not easy to run a business. Nobody is perfect and I understand mistakes happen….but this kind of attitude really makes all those other comments about rude owners and poor customer service feel so much more real. Due to this, I have adjusted this down to 1 star. Since my initial visit, I’ve heard so many horror stories about refusing to heat up cold food that should be hot and fresh (the owner encouraged customers to microwave food themselves) or just general unfriendliness. I tried to give this place a chance but between the bad vibe and sub-par food, I really can’t recommend it at all. I don’t foresee this bakery lasting long downtown if the owners are unwilling to listen to feedback or provide a welcoming environment for customers. If they want to provide a “customer is always wrong experience”, Norma J’s should have become an insurance company instead of a bakery.
Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options but definitely would encourage to double check your order to ensure it is meat free.
