At this price point outside of Manhattan, there are other options. We were underwhelm with both the freshness and portions. Sad to say, we are unlikely to revisit.
Super high quality and so grateful it's in the LIC neighborhood! DEFINITELY recommended. The experience is intimate, with seating for about 10-12 in front of the chefs, but with tables in the back as well for a la carte dining. We were seated next to friendly folks so instantly had a fun connection during dinner and the staff was extremely attentive and professional throughout. The seafood was unbelievably fresh and delicious. My personal favorites were the O'Toro and the King Salmon but the Nigiri was up there as were all the tuna options. In short - all SO GOOD. Topped off with dessert, our 15 and 18 course omakase experience at Kaiyo was well worth it and had us content and happy.
Great experience at Kaiyo Omakase. Fatty tuna, eel, sea urchin in seaweed, and squid with crab meat were all excellent.

18 course omakase was great. Took my wife here for her birthday, and mentioned that in the notes section while making the reservation. The staff was kind enough to give her a birthday card with her name on it after the meal! Will definitely be back in the future.
Came here for omakase at 5pm on a Sunday. My friend and I were surprisingly the only ones at the counter (but we didn't mind!). We did the 15 course omakase and it was plenty for us. Food was yummy, service was great. Complimentary house sake was tasty! Plus they gave my friend a handwritten birthday card, which was super sweet! Overall great experience for my first omakase
food is not bad, but not as i expected for sushi omakase level compared to others at the same price level. i think stuff should dressed better not just not a regular dirty t- shirt.
We went last night with my husband and a couple of our friends for his birthday. We had a wonderful time. Service was excellent as was the 18 course menu and the ambience was calm and allowed us to have a great conversation and a great time. The staff was lovely and even brought my husband a birthday card and a cake with a candle. I highly recommend this place.
Went for a date/birthday and they wrote a card, brought out a small dessert, and wished her a happy birthday numerous times.
Kaiyo's a memorable and intimate experience. The server Sam, and the chef took such great care of us from beginning to end. There was anticipation. Actually, we did the 9-main tasting and left feeling full and dazzled with the design intricacy behind each serving. Would highly recommend to anybody whether you are trying omakase for the first time or looking for an eye-popping option to be delighted.

Fish is not fresh and chef doesn’t explain much. Very unenthused. Very expensive for this quality. Sad :( I really wanted to like this.
Had omakase for the first time here, and it blew me away! I didn’t always know what I was eating, but everything tasted amazing. Ambiance and service were also top notch.

Everytime i come here i end up amazed, food is amazing, the whole experience makesKaiyo a great spot for a nice date, or dining with friends! Best sushi in NYC, hands down. Great service all the crew is always on top! Love Kaiyo
Loved this omakase! The flavor combinations were incredible. The price was great. I did the smaller of the 2 menu options so I could double up on a few of my favorite pieces at the end. Service was attentive. My water glass was always full. I had a reservation so I sat at the bar but I love that they have an option for walk-ins to enjoy the same menu but with table side service. Def recommend you give this place a try & kudos to the chef. I will be back!
