i want to like this place, but every time i go, the ramen doesn’t have much flavor and it’s quite expensive for a soup place

Visually, many things are remniscient of Japanese ramen shops, but the flavors and other small details may be catered towards a chinese palate--long grain rice, china-style chopsticks, non-japanese spices (in their spicy ramen) among others. Pricing is fair, but don't come in expecting a japanese taste!

The food was decent- probably lower than the other Kyuramens in the city, the service was EXTREMELY slow; Was given the wrong food and received items (the server probably heard wrong, I don’t blame them, things happen) that weren’t ordered.
I could pardon the service, especially when visually, it looked like there was only 2 servers working the tables but the state that the food was served in was truly unhygienic, the cups that water was served in had what looked like smears of unwashed stains and the spoons that came with the desert my party ordered was dirty, we wiped the spoon with a leftover provided hand wipe and a black residue wipe off onto it. pitch black. It was disgusting to say the least.
I don’t make reviews on google and i’ve never had a problem with any other branch of Kyuramen in NYC, so this may be a one time thing- but it was a disappointing place.
A good ramen spot with hearty broth, omurice, and bun selection. We liked everything we got except for the spicy tonkatsu ramen that tasted like mala vs the usual spicy tonkatsu. Service was friendly and quick where we were in and out in less than an hour. With every bowl of ramen, you can also win free food item on next visit. Downside is the coupon is only good for about 2 weeks, which is way too soon and not convenient unless you live in the area. Near subway and lots of bubble tea and Japanese market nearby.

Even walking in this place sets expectations high with a beautiful honeycomb-on-the-wall seating arrangement (you'll know it when you see it). Food was spectacular in flavor, and I love when fried oysters are allowed to keep a soft interior with a great crisp on the outside. All the skewers were great but scallop especially was incredible, and true to name you can get great ramen here (chicken lemongrass pictured). Rice bun burger was a fun treat, the formed rice does benefit from a little extra moisture (dipped in ramen was amazing).

The chicken ramen soup is disgusting. As others have mentioned it basically rubbery, plastic, hard to believe if it’s even chicken. The curry flavor was the least flavorful curry I’ve tasted in my life, very dull. The broth was not hot at all which was also pretty strange for a ramen place. This was so disappointing.

Definitely worth the money and the service was fast. The design of the restaurant is so cute and adorable with the honeycomb setup. The size of the restaurant is a bit smaller, but it can accommodate a decent amount of people. No question .I will return to try some of their other popular items.
