If you want the gold standard for Cantonese dim sum in NYC, Lake Pavilion delivers. We came on a busy weekend late morning and the operation was a well-oiled machine—host stand moved quickly, tea hit the table immediately, and carts rolled by nonstop with all the classics done right. Dim sum wasn’t that great. The place is definitely overhyped by many food reviewers on IG, If you seat in the middle you don’t get all the cars that come around. other places are definitely better.. I usually tip base on service after I pay for my meals. The bill was $60, I got my change back. The lady told me that doesn’t include the tip in a very rude tone.
This is olde school dim sum which is reminiscent of what we eat decades ago, the space looks like a time warp and feels a little dated, the staff, uniforms and decor are from another era.
The good to dishes lack flavor and need more salt and sauces.
Portions are generous, but need a little more care and attention.
