A GEM within Astoria! Sushi is always fresh & the service is above & beyond. Sushi Sashimi for 1 if you’re hungry or Sushi regular if not. Their $2 house sake makes it a no brainer. If you don’t feel like sushi, the Yaki Udon is delicious! Teriyaki Salmon bento box always comes thru.Wish there was merch! ?Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options.Kid-friendliness: My nieces ADORE this location and the staff treat them like VIP’s!

I really don't like leaving bad reviews, I know it can hurt hardworking businesses and under most circumstances, I would simply keep my mouth shut. Unfortunately, I have to warn others about this place. My friend and I stepped inside and the young man at the front desk seemed confused as to how to seat us. As soon as we were seated, we noticed that it was extremely hot inside. It was around 80 degrees out, but there were no windows/doors open at all. Fortunately after a few minutes, some mild AC came on (perhaps they heard us discussing our discomfort). I was hoping to order a yakiniku donburi, but the donburi options were limited, so I chose a shrimp tempura donburi. Admittedly, this was a bad choice on my end, but why would they even serve a dish of dry, breaded shrimp and vegetables over plain rice in the first place? There was only a typical dipping sauce on the side to accompany it. This being said, the tempura wasn't bad, it tasted fine, just a really bland combination of foods.I felt fine for the rest of the night, but the next morning I woke up to stomach pains. A little time in the bathroom wouldn't be a big deal, but I became very nauseous and actually vomited many times. Never in my LIFE has this happened to me from food poisoning of any kind, and I've had my share of upset stomachs and suspect meals. I'm not sure how unlucky I was to have this experience after a meal at Sakura, but my friend didn't enjoy his meal (a sushi entrée) either, and the service was relatively unfriendly as well. I would never go back to this place, and I would caution others to at least go on a cool day, and avoid the tempura

Casual, more hole-in-wall vibe, but we had great sushi and the prices are amazing. Some of the beers were $4!

I've been here both lunch and dinner. This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in Astoria, NY. Good prices and good selection. If you come for lunch there are lunch specials that come with soup and salad. What a great deal!

Elaine the server has a lot of knowledge of the food here. She’s very quick and has a good character. My guest couldn’t decide but she got them on place and recommended something quick. Im glad she took initiative.I was very pleased with the quality of the food and the ambiance. She saw I was thirsty and would bring me water without asking. There was about 14people but she single handed controlled everything. Elaine and the Mexican sushi chef really made this place shine.

I have been several times in this restaurant, and I had returned for the sushi that is prepared very well, but unfortunately this time everything we ordered was very cold, apart from the fact that the waitress is in too much of a hurry for you to order the food and the same in a hurry to pick up the dishes, go around your table many times, because to tell the truth you eat in a hurry and with great eagerness,

Bad service and food. The lady sever was extremely rude. The food took so long to come out. Yet we were the only ones at the restaurant. Also, the food unfortunately was basic. Not worth the money. The sushi rolls kept falling apart. One of us got sick after eating there. ? Definitely don’t recommend
