I love this place! They are super nice, the owner treats you like family right away. It’s definitely going on my Top 5 cafes in Astoria. The smoothies and pastries are delicious. I want to come back and try all of their menu items. When we walked in the place smelled amazing—the owner said she had just cooked some meatballs for their lunch special. Felt like home right away! 5/5

For a small coffee shop this is absolutely adorable. First of all the owner is an absolute sweet heart. She is so welcoming to all patrons who go in. This was an absolute gem of gems. The latte was good and it was just nice to sit drink coffee and talk.

I CANNOT say anything but the sweetest things about Maria! She has a way of making you feel like family in her home kitchen. Her food is fresh and SO GOOD. The hot sauce is a chefs kiss. I cannot wait to go back for another amazing meal ♥️♥️?

I absolutely love this place. It’s a little gem! When I need a yummy home cooked meal. Whether it’s brunch, dinner breakfast, I found these dishes, incredibly fresh and tasty. You can taste the health and the love in the food. I’m seriously addicted!! Maria is the best she’s so Welcoming and inviting. From the beef empanadas and lemon chicken, (my personal favorites) the meatballs, lentils, rice are also delicious!. Dining in or Takeout, to me the food taste like a loving family.

The owner is SUCH a sweet human being, super welcoming and informative. I was very impressed with the large variety of options they had to offer from sandwiches, snacks, pastries and even homemade hot plates of food—and everything was homemade! Not to mention their coffee which I learned was Turkish, which was made fresh and perfect. As a former barista, I never go for a normal hot pot of coffee but something told me to go for it today, and I am so glad I did. Currently sipping on cup #2 as I’m typing this. Sunshine cafe offers a quiet, cute and very welcoming environment, so I’ll find myself here more often on days I’m WFH and need to get out of the house.

I went here for coffee and ended up getting food. I had eggs in a croissant, which was delicious and much better than I was expecting. Maria, the owner, was great and very accommodating. The Moroccan coffee was very smooth and had no bitterness. Maria said she makes couscous on Fridays. I can't wait to come back and try it.

The Sunshine Cafe is a true gem: legitimately *great* food; carefully sourced ingredients; all cooked by people with a lot of skill and taste, but no need to show off. Once you meet Maria herself, you can see where all this goodness comes from: a person who knows food, works hard, and loves to take care of people, I've been lucky enough to have wonderful meals at famous places, fancy places, taco carts, sketchy-looking cafes, and homes on 5 continents. Ranking places isn't my thing, but I am sure the dinner I just had at Sunshine Cafe is as good as any meal I've had anywhere, and far better than most. Wish I lived closer!
