The drinks are delicious. The staff is kind and welcoming. The decor and atmosphere is dope. I strongly recommend for a drink or a trivia night.

@thebaronessbar in Long Island City is a hidden gem, blending a laid-back, retro atmosphere with bold, unforgettable flavors. Known for their expertly crafted burgers and standout cocktails, this spot is perfect for a casual yet indulgent night out. Hereâs what we tried:
What we ate:
- The SWAYZE: A double roadhouse burger done to perfection. Juicy, smashed beef patties topped with double cheese, fried onions, tomato, pickles, shredded lettuce, and their signature âSsshhhhâ sauce on a buttery roll. An absolute flavor bomb. *5/5*
- The WANDA: A Baroness classic making a comeback. Shortrib-brisket blend, sautéed onions and mushrooms, double Swiss cheese, and roasted garlic aioli on a potato roll. Rich, savory, and utterly satisfying. *5/5*
- CHEESEBURGER WONTONS: Crispy wontons filled with seasoned beef, a three-cheese blend, pickles, and red onion, served with a hint of their secret sauce. Fun and flavorful, though not a standout. *3.5/5*
- SKILLET MAC Nâ CHEESE: Disappointing. Overly crusted and lacking creaminess. This one is an easy pass. *1/5*
What we drank:
The cocktails were just as impressive as the burgers, each one expertly crafted:
- Yokoâs Mule: Bourbon, lychee, and pineapple topped with ginger beer. Sweet, spicy, and perfectly balanced. *5/5*
- Smokes and Flames: Mezcal, Aperol, and fresh lemon create a smoky, citrusy delight. *5/5*
- Dragonâs Breath: White rum, dragonfruit, and lime blend for a light, tropical escape. *5/5*
- The Walking Dead: White and dark rum swirl with apricot liqueur, pineapple, and lime for a smooth, fruity finish. *5/5*
The Baroness is all about indulgence done right. Stick to the burgers and cocktails for an experience you wonât forget, and prepare to be wowed.

Bartender, possiblely the owner since it was late and he was one of the only staff there, was very condescending and, frankly, flat-out creepy when I asked for a light version of an alcoholic drink. He said to the table, "I bet she wouldn't even be able to tell."
Just put half a shot and don't be rude, is that a hard ask?
And yes I'm sure he delusionally believed that he was being funny and joking, but explain to me where the funny part of the joke is? Was it when he implied he could mess with my drink order and I'd be none the wiser? Where is the misunderstanding? No, that is exactly what he meant.
There is no misunderstanding of this "joke". Please don't call this a joke or blame me for misunderstanding when it should be the bartender alone at fault. He is solely responsible for what he himself said.
Date and time was Oct 7, 2023 at 11:45pm. Yes, this experience disgusted me so much that after a whole year I had to come back and leave a review.

Extremely nasty.
Refused my friend and I service for no apparent reason.
Bartender made insulting remarks as we left.
Very very strange experience.

No we both had our IDs, which we were never asked for.
Completely sober, no antics, nothing.
After being told we would not be served, we politely collected ourselves to leave and whilst doing so I overheard your staff joke about it.
Itâs fineâ we went next door and joked about your establishments poor service and were rewarded by your neighbors with drinks and food on the house. Thank you for asking us to leave your bar because we had an amazing time elsewhere.
You can also clearly see I am not an individual who goes bashing places online as I typically leave great reviewsâ which I will be doing so for your competitor.

We had dinner and drinks with our toddler and another couple. It's as if our waiter and manager has never seen a child before. They were both quite rude to us for asking for paper menus, and made weird and degrading comments throughout our meal. The food was great but this is definitely not a (family) friendly place and we all will not be returning, ever. Get proper staff who actually know service!

This place has really gone downhil. It used to be a very fun environment with great food. The chicken sandwich was the thinest I have ever seen, the cheese on my burger seemed very low quality. But the service was AWFUL. We were one of maybe 3 couples there and we couldnt have gotten the servers attention to save our lives. When we went inside (we were sitting outside) to order at the bar the bartender was extremely rude and annoyed at me for wanting to order food. We used to really like this place but do not see ourselves going back.

Just bad from start to finish. Saw that on wed they have live comedy, this was on their website and their instagram so decided to give it a shot. Checked for updates on instagram day of to make sure nothing had changed, no new posts or announcements so assumed regular scheduling. Arrive and were told oh, the comedians are probably somewhere else tonight. No actual details so not sure if the comedy ever actually happens but ok. Decided well were here might as well stay for food. Started with mac and cheese which was subpar but fine. Burger was good but nothing special. Ordered fries which on the menu came with rosemary garlic but were just plain. Got the wings and had paint chips inside it. Have never sent food back to the kitchen, have seen bugs and hair and these things happen i understand. But how on EARTH do old paint chips get in the food? Not to mention this is an old building so probably toxic lead paint. When we finally got ahold of the waiter (every time we wanted waiters attention had to sit with an arm in the air for solid 5 min straight) he was very unapologetic and did not even attempt to offer anything to make up for the mistake. Left extremely disappointed and unsatisfied.
Side note, after this poor experience started to read some negative reviews and the way the owner responds to anyone with anything negative to say is comical. Reading them was the best thing about the restaurant
Ok also included a screen shot of the owners reply where their only response was âconfused faceâ to the paint chips. See original photo. Weird white thing in the wing bowl was paint chip. Even included a photo so very unclear why youre confused.

Nice Bar with relatively friendly staff. Our bartender says he sometimes likes to be a jerk but felt nice that night. A very chill atmosphere. We had played Basketball at the park down the street and came as is without any vibe check. I ordered the Adele burger, which is a burger dunked in French Onion Soup. They did a great job of keeping the bun nice considering the soup component, the cheese onions, and soup flavors gave the burger a nice twist in flavors. One thing I do have to mention is the patty is not "smashed" left alone and was exactly how I like burgers. If you are a fan of smashed burgers, they may not have something for you. It was my first time there so I can't deny or confirm any type of smashed burger on their menu. Oh yeah, they have a wild bathroom. I have not seen it as I did not need to go. haha.

Atmosphere (5/5): The interior has a retro theme and dimly lit inside. The bathroom has a million photos of Celine Dion plastered along the walls! Apparently, she came to the establishment to use the bathroom one night! The outdoor dining can seat plenty of seating (and theyâre dog friendly!) In fact, if you bring your dog on 9/4, you can get a free beer courtesy of Five Borough Brewing!
Service (5/5): It appeared that most of the patrons on this Sunday evening dined outdoors. However, we felt that there was plenty of service and we were well attended to.
Food: Huge fan that their bun of choice is on potato buns!! Superior option. Their burger portions are on the smaller side. Fries could use some seasoning. Side salad was a bit bland.
Wanda (5/5): Although we werenât asked how we wanted the burger cooked, the burger was juicy and had a wonderful flavor. The caramelized onions along with the mushroom packed a lovely taste.
Heidi (4/5): I should have stuck with their classic beef patties but the sausage was a great flavor as well. Just in comparison, the short rib brisket was the better part of the burger. Again, the sauce.

8:30PM Aug 21 this took place. New to the neighborhood, went here for a burger. Guy who seated me was dismissive, basically sit anywhere, no eye contact. Was so dark couldn't get the qr code to be recognized on my phone, but no one came to take my order anyway. Just left (8:30PM Wednesday August 21st), went to Woodbines two doors down, super friendly, great staff. Would not go here unless owner responds to this note.

This place has really good burgers and craft beer and the service is great - very friendly and quick. The wings however were dry, a little burnt, not very flavorful, and came with a very sad looking dangly pair of 2 celery sticks and had to ask for blue cheese on the side. Iâm also not a fan of the QR Code menus where I have to squint at the tiny font on my phone. The burgers in the range of $17-20 come with a side of either fries or a small side salad - I always go with the latter to make it feel like a âhealthyâ meal lol. The detailed Titanic-themed bathroom downstairs is pretty funny. They also have a stack of board games available but Iâve never seen anyone playing with them. If this were a dog-friendly establishment, Iâd be coming here all the time.
