I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE 0 ⭐️ IF I COULD. When I walked into Vanessa's Dumpling, the older lady at the front was very rude to me. After only a minute of looking at the menu, she began asking me what I wanted to order multiple times. I told her repeatedly “Hey I will let you know when I am ready I am just looking atm, thank you”. When I was finally ready to order I went upto her, she ignored me and began talking to another customer who had just arrived that she knew. To add insult to injury, When she finally acknowledged me she started being petty and telling me that I had to wait now bcuz she is busy and had asked me what I wanted to order multiple times before, even though I was just checking the menu while sitting down. I stayed calm and patient. She even went so far as to try and take that customer's order before mine, despite me being there first. To make matters worse, she said something like "oh, I guess I'll take you first" instead of acknowledging that I should have be served before the other customer. It felt disrespectful and dismissive of my time and presence. It was frustrating that I was rushed and not given proper customer service, especially since the store was practically empty at the time and I wasn't holding up the line. Despite all this, I still wanted to give her a chance and told her my order. However, when I wanted to pay and asked if I could pay a bit with cash and then the rest with card, she looked at me weird and said she couldn't do that. When I asked why, she just said "no no, I don't know. I can’t”. LIES. It was a really bad experience and I ended up leaving without even getting the food because of her nasty attitude after that. Absolutely disgusting.Im sorry ik this was long read but this just got me so tight.

If I could give this place no stars for service I would. The old lady at the front taking orders was very nasty. We asked her one question to which she responded I don't have time for your questions I am very busy. Make your order or you can go. Very nasty of someone to say to customers. Will never be going to this place again.

I’ve been here multiple times ever since it opened. I usually order the pork sesame pancake sandwich and dumplings. Pancake sandwich can be a hit or miss but most of the times a hit. Recently, I’ve been ordering the shrimp and chicken wontons in chili oil and that has been my go-to.I’m grateful to have this at a walking distance near me. Some parts of the menu can’t beat Flushing restaurants but the value for eating out and quality of the food is there.Recommended dishes: Shrimp & Chicken in Chili Oil and Pork Sesame Pancake Sandwich

I came here for their soft grand opening, and ordered a few items from their menu to go. A lot of items on the menu isn't available just yet. I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles, Pork & Cabbage Dumplings, hot and sour soup and vegetable dumplings. The flavors in the Dan Dan noodles was so rich and flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The dumplings was very juicy ! (Note: they charge extras for hot chili oil for the dumplings) keep that in mind! Most dumplings spots do give it out free of charge so this was very surprising for me. I will return next time for their fried pork buns that wasn't available just of yet during their soft grand opening!

Highly recommended. The best pan fried wonton with spicy sauce in the area.

I was so excited to try this place as I have always loved the restaurant on Eldridge St. The food is just not the same. Dumplings were not fresh and the sesame scallion pancake tasted like it had been made yesterday. Maybe it was just an off night but it looks like others have said the same.

Decent but not the best. I tried the soup dumplings as I'm a huge fan of those, and was disappointed in the lack of broth. But the flavor of the dumplings themselves was great! Just wanted more soup in my soup dumplings ;) I would probably try other items off their menu in the future!

Vanessa’s food is amazing but if you’re going to charge the same or even more for veggie food as you do meat-based, something is terribly wrong. Didn’t know a carrot and a cabbage cost more than an animal’s life… hmm.

I need to give this place more love! The food and service are great. Although the location is a bit off from the main area, I don’t mind walking a bit for the price and the food. My favorite is the beef noodle soup here, and the dumplings are good too!

Disappointed, my vegetarian dish had a piece of chicken and the food was terrible! Surprised at their 4-star rating, it’s not worth any stars.

Just an update. The small place was packed on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered a sesame pancake with beef to go. The outside wasn't what I was expecting. It was crispy on the outside but very bready on the inside. It was like a large fried bun rather than a pancake. There was ample pickled carrots and cilantro and the beef was tender. I'm not sure the flavors meshed well. I guess I have to try more things as the food so far has been passable but not amazing.

Been going to the Vanessa’s on Eldridge street in Chinatown for over 20 years now. Was ecstatic to hear they were opening across the street from my home. Unfortunately the food is not the same. The fried dumplings are not nearly as crispy as the ones in Chinatown. Pretty sure this is because they using frozen dumplings. I tried the boiled dumplings as well. Not only do they not taste as good but it’s clear those not fresh either. The scallion pancakes are great and as good as they are in Chinatown but the fried and boiled pork dumplings are not. Sadly I will have to travel back to Chinatown if I want to get my Vanessa’s dumpling fix because this definitely isn’t it

Cabbage and pork dumplings are a must here. Do yourself a favor and get a sesame pancake while you're at it too.

I've been a fan of this spot for YEARS. I mean way back before 2013. My friends and I would party in Brooklyn and hit up Vanessa's late at night. Now there's a location in Queens ( happy scream ) and it's not far from me (happy scream ). Yes I go here for dumplings (the chive and pork to be specific) but I really go for the sesame pancake sandwiches. The Peking duck sesame pancake sandwich is my jam. It's the perfect size and the glaze they add to the duck is phenomenal. 5 stars. The service here is quick. There are plenty of seats for a quick bite and go and they usually have lunch specials/combos (when I went they did) so look out for that.
