Had a wonderful weekend get away & stay at Tail O The Pup. Great location, very easily accessible to both Saranac & Lake Placid areas. Only complaints were the driveway entrance had a big trench & had to go super slow over it. And the beds weren't the most comfortable, but we made due with their renovations being done. Thank you for allowing us to stay! Would highly recommend to our friends & family & would stay here again.

I am writing a review for the cabins at Tail O' the Pup! The owner was great at communicating all the details of my stay. The room was exactly what I needed - TV, bed, bathroom/shower & wifi! Just the basics for me as I was enjoying a weekend up in Saranac Lake/Lake Placid hiking. My room stayed very warm, as well as the water in the shower, which was great for re-heating after hiking for hours in the cold!

I don’t see why there is a room rating for this it isn’t a hotel. They have high quality drinks served. The ribs are fall off the bone tender. The waiters are friendly. Great place for a summer BBQ experience it’s difficult to think of a negative comment to make about this place. The location is good just before entering Lake placid before the trooper barracks. Only issue is it’s a little awkward to pull out of because it’s on a decently trafficked highway.

"Acceptable" BBQ and sides.Definitely edible, but in the same breath in the lower 3rd of BBQ places I have eaten (and means BBQ from Texas, NC, SC, Tennessee etc and so on.Ribs were dry/overcooked. Corn bread was dry. I guess up in this area one doesnt have a ton of choice, and it shows.

If I had noticed when I ordered that the cooks “Got Lobsta” T shirt looked like he’d just changed oil on his truck (filthy)! We (I), ordered the 3 for 3 platter, chicken ribs and pulled pork with a very very small portion of cole slaw and one ear of corn for $40.00 . Don’t think I would be a repeat customer and especially over their claim to fame of 92 years, had better on all items , sorry!

This place has a BBQ mountain charm. Watermelon served on the side supprised me but was a great addition. We couldn't pick what to eat so we spilt a three meat option. Pork, ribs, and chicken are very good.My husband wanted to come back the next day.

Amazing food, large portions. Pricing is a bit steep but considering the quality of the food and portion, can't complain. Cool spot, live music, must stop while riding motorcycle in the Adirondack.

Stopped in for BBQ at the end of their season, regardless the food was astounding and they have potentially the best cornbread I’ve had in my life (and I love cornbread). Great food! Great vibe!
Delicious BBQ ribs, fish and chips, and scallops. All was so tasty and fresh. We had a great meal and the sides of beans, corn, and slaw was perfect. Crafted beers along with the food fulfilled our expectations. The hostess was so nice as was our server. Strongly recommend this place for those with a hearty appetite!

This place has been here for many years. This wasn't our first time and was the worst time. The lobster was a soft shell so it had very little meat which had a tough texture. The waffle fries were soggy and cold, not like the picture. The staff was very young and inexperienced the college students had returned to school. We were wanting lobster again so we went to P.C. and bought some.

Not used to smoked wings nor corn in a lobster roll. It was definitely different. Servings were small.
