Best Japanese cuisine I’ve ever had. My wife and I love this place. The owner is a nice Japanese couple. So it’s a genuine Japanese restaurant unlike others. Lovely decoration makes yourself feel at home. We tried the sushi and sashimi first as always. It’s fresh and delicious. And we thought why not have something new? So we order:
awesome food which takes wayyyyy too long to arrive. We ordered unadon(grilled eel rice) and beef teriyaki rice, both of them was amazing, probably the best you can find in Rochester. BUT each dish takes at least 40 minutes to arrive. Our whole plan for that night was delayed because of that, but worth it!

I am giving this place a 5-star rating since I cannot give it 4.5. The reason for a 5 Star is this is AUTHENTIC Japanese food! With its a hole-in-the-wall facade, you might think twice before entering. But when you see "Yamasa" on the shoyu bottles you know that the owner has quality in mind. You also need to get beyond the somewhat gruffness of the chef (owner?) thus the 4.5 rating for those who are expecting conversation and an outgoing personality to go along with their awesome...read full review
