this was the first place i went in new york. we had a super nice server and my food was very good. i’m very picky so i went with a safe option but it didn’t disappoint. totally recommend

Friendly staff, good food, old fashioned diner feel with the little music boxes (some work, some don't) at each booth. Serves breakfast all day. Good variety of food. Fairly busy, but I haven't had to wait to be seated any time I've gone. Fair prices, good portions.Parking: Good number of parking spots that are on both sides and the front of the restaurant. Unsure on the back of the restaurant.

Waitress and food were great but my transaction with the cashier (girl with the large neck tattoo) totally put me off. She was dismissive at every turn. There were 4 key points with her that soured my whole experience. Such an unpleasant attitude I wish I hadn't tipped 20%. I can't see her lasting there.Unfortunately I left feeling insulted and won't return.Kid-friendliness: They offered a kids' menu and coloring book to our child.

Food was fantastic, service was amazing, but their prices were a bit high for a “diner”. Also, they charge to refill your soda. First place I’ve been to in a while where they charge to refill and their drinks are expensive to begin with. Overall though, great food and service.

This was our first time visiting Rochester! Jay's Diner came highly recommended as a Must visit and we were not disappointed. Food was delicious, staff friendly and restaurant clean and beautiful. We will definitely visit again!!
My group is here right now. First off everyone but one person (group of 7) ordered a hot meal. I only wanted dessert but the server said three or four times that everyone must order food. Then we find out soda refills are no longer free. Not a single refill at all for $3. I guess I've been spoiled. The food was meh but the prices were pretty high. $18 for a sampler plate of appetizers. It's a diner. It is not even a great diner. Sandwiches are around $15 each. It's not what it used to be by far.
