This is a GREAT hidden gem, a non-corporate small restaurant with a very personal touch. AMAZING steaks, with a fantastic selection to include very high-end cuts not usually found at other restaurants. Delicious steak, sides, and a very good old fashioned. They were a touch slow getting our dinners out, but it was later at night and understandable. We will return for sure!!!!
Amazing experience from start to finish with our waitress! From the cocktails, to the wine, steak entrées and dessert. Everything was excellent and cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend going here and we will be coming back for sure!
You name the high end steakhouse in NYC and I've been there. This is on par with those. Way better than anything else you'll get in Rochester.
Had a delicious steak, and Mac and cheese. I was dinning at the bar and received quick and friendly service. They have a lot of regulars. I work next door i see the same cars every week. Atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff treat you like family in profesional way. The food alone makes this place standout because of the level of perfection each plate is prepared too. Each bite of my steak transported me into another world.
Pomme frites are the best in town
All the food was fantastic, our server was great and they accommodated our large party with style and patience. The only thing if I had to have something critical to say, is my hanger steak was a little over cooked. The center was perfectly MR but the edges were almost WD. Understandable for the cut and it was still delicious so I was still very satisfied .
The level of attention to food allergies was unmatched, the wine list was excellent, the service was exceptional, and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend. 10/10
We had 730 reservations and did not get seated til almost 8 pm. We waited until 915 to get bread and our appetizers. Dinner came at 930! Unacceptable for the price. Food was good but not worth a two hour wait. Won’t be going back.

Have been here a few times but the experience this time was a terrible. The food was decent but our server was rude, had an attitude and ruined the whole evening. Don’t remember her name but was a middle aged short haired blonde.
-Did not bother helping us with the menu, didn’t tell us about specials for the day
-On asking why the food was delayed, she responded very rudely saying “its not forgotten, we serve in courses and if that’s not how you like it its better to let me know first”
Terrible horrible and never again! Avoid this place and don’t waste your money here

Dined here tonight for our 9th wedding anniversary and it was an amazing experience. The owner was present and greeted us, checked in on us, and said goodbye which was lovely to see in a fine restaurant.
I couldn't partake in their complimentary anniversary prosecco toast due to pregnancy so they happily accommodated with complimentary desserts.
All of the food was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. Beth, our server, was a sweetheart and all of the staff was right on top of things (water, bread, dishes, boxes, etc.).
Thank you for a lovely dinner!

**Review of Max Chophouse**
Max Chophouse offers a refined dining experience with a romantic ambiance that makes it perfect for special occasions. The steak was a highlight, cooked to a perfect medium rare just as I asked. It was so good that I couldn’t bring myself to reheat my leftovers at home; I enjoyed them cold instead.
The BBQ pork belly was another standout dish tender and full of flavor. The dinner rolls were fluffy and buttery, a real treat with the meal.
Service was top-notch. The bartender was friendly and went the extra mile to package my leftovers, including the sauces, which was much appreciated.
While Max Chophouse is on the pricier side, the quality of the food and overall experience make it worth the splurge. It’s definitely a great spot to treat yourself, and I plan on returning soon. It’s a true gem in Rochester.

An amazing dinner Beth took excellent care of us the full evening Definitely recommend Max's
Unassuming spot in an older strip plaza. Our server Katie was great and the steaks and pork chop cooked perfectly. Lots of food! Nice wine list. Highly recommended.

I am only giving this restaurant one star overall at this time. We have always loved Max's Chophouse. We have been going there for many years: both personally and for business dinners- probably cumulatively spending in the tens of thousands of dollars over the past 10-12 years. The food and service have been incredible because of the leadership of Virginia Larocca, their manager up until the past couple of weeks. We have told everyone about this place for years, always commenting about the exceptional job that Virginia does day in and day out. She is no longer at the restaurant. WHY?? It completely changes our view of the place. How can management let her leave?!? Don't they understand that she has been the heart and soul of that place for the past dozen years? That is why we've rated it one star after consistently rating it five stars. We are so sad and disappointed.
