Max Bar & Bistro at Eastman Place

We started with delicious salt bread and a Jonah crab appetizer that was made with layers of flavor and texture. The base layer was creamy avocado pieces which went really well with the lump crab and the crunchy salad layers. In between the layers were sauce and seasonings that tied everything together. Our main dish was the 25th anniversary special which was an incredibly tender hanger steak. We were so impressed by the upscale atmosphere, pleasant attentive staff (Sarah was our server), and excellent food! I can't believe this place wasn't packed. Best meal we had in a long time. This is definitely a hidden Rochester gem.

Oh my God, I forgot to write a review! Tony put on the most amazing ice breaker for our class of ‘75. Excellent food, drinks & service. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had! I’d give them 6 stars if I could. 😘🤩🥳👍🤜🏾🤛🏻✊🏽🙏

Gina is one of the best and most caring bartenders I've ever had. She's very attentive, great at multi tasking, EXTREMELY NICE, caring and very knowledgeable. If I were to recommend anyone as a bartender, it would be her 100%. She tends to everyone equally and makes sure everyone is happy and taken care of. You dont see this type of service that often. COME SEE GINA!!!!!

Max’s was recommended to us for dinner while we were attending the Rochester Jazz Festival. I can’t say enough good things about the service, atmosphere and food. The seafood dish I chose is now one of the top 2 seafood dishes I’ve ever had. I travel often and that’s says a lot. Our hostess and servers including Nico and apologies I don’t recall our other server’s name. Highly recommend.

Very professional great job

Amazing experience, it’s quiet and romantic vibes so makes you wanna dress nice. The food was amazing, they don’t rush anything out so prepare to sit and enjoy your meal as it’s served over a period of time.

Straight to the point food was awful. Under cooked, cold, bland, terrible presentation, we honestly thought the McDonald’s we picked up for our daughter on the way home was better. The price, extremely expensive, grotesquely so considering the terrible meal. My husband and I choked it down because it was Valentine’s Day. The waitress was nice but could not offer me a simple Riesling, and I choked down one glass of the worst white they must have had. The atmosphere was cold, office building type, too quiet, not at all warm or inviting. We will not return.

Very good

This is a very quaint place to go have dinner or just dessert after seeing a show downtown Rochester. It is very upscale fine dining classy. This is a dress up kind of restaurant. I only found out about this restaurant because my husband and I saw a show with the RPO and when looking through the program I happened to come across an ad for the restaurant and asked someone if this was still a place to go to. Sometimes there is advertising that is old. So we were glad to hear it was still open. My husband and I just ordered drinks and dessert. My husbands dessert was really good. It was a cream brulee. Creamy custard and melted sugar on top that you break with a cookie on top. I ordered the caramel bread pudding. Mine was ok only because it looked like it was scooped out of a container and ploped onto a small dish. Half was slightly warm and the other half cold and it was dry not any kind of bread pudding I've had before. It also had a caramel drizzle on top and vanilla ice cream on the side. It did taste good but the presentation was not the best. Maby if it wasn't so late and we were there during the early evening time it may be better. But really regardless of what time it is even if it's a half hour before close the consistency should be the same no matter what time it is. It seemed like less effort was put into it compared to the crem brulee. The desserts cost $10 each. I got a glass of wine that was $13 and it was just half full. My husband got a black Russian that was $12. Over all a nice quiet intimate setting and good service. Definitely go try this place out!

Amazing atmosphere and food. We were beyond impressed. Jennifer was our server, she went above and beyond to make our dinner perfect! We will definitely go back again.

Food was pretty average to poor. The Pork Chop was diner standard, service was mediocre (forgot bread, added sides we didn't order), the wine pour was extremely ungenerous for the inflated price. Overall there are MUCH better places to eat in Rochester, only saving grace is the location. Not worth the money.

What a phenomenal dinner we had at Max. The food was amazing! The staff was wonderful. We actually got to meet the owner, what a great guy. Thank you, staff and Owner for a really special night. Wonderful!!!

Great dinner. Excellent pasta with shrimp and crab the filet was cooked perfectly. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Our waitress was ´both attentive and knowledgeable about the menu
