Delicious! Taisho Bistro has a large menu with a wide variety of different Japanese/Asian dishes, sushi, sashimi, nigiri, ramen, udon and rice bowls, yakitori, cooked fish, and meats off the grill. The presentation of each dish was beautiful and the chef(s) obviously take great pride in their work. The service was warm and friendly. It’s not a large restaurant, a little more intimate, but well worth the trip and many return trips.

This is my favorite sushi place. I always got the sakedon everytime. I'm so sad that it's closed. I really hope it's not a permanent close. 😭🩷

We've been coming to this sushi spot for years, and it never disappoints! The staff is always welcoming, the service is great, and the food is consistently fresh and delicious.
Hands down, the sweet potato roll is our favorite — crispy, flavorful, and absolutely perfect every time. It's the kind of place you find once and keep coming back to, again and again.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a go-to sushi place with great vibes and even better rolls! 🍣

This is our go to place right now, well it was, does anyone know why it’s temporarily closed? She does sushi, I do hibachi and we’re both always happy.

The sushi was quite good (worth a 4 star), the bowl of ramen however was not hot and the noodles were gluey (worth a 1 star).
Service was kind.

The shrimp fried rice was excellent and came with a choice of soup or salad. I also enjoyed white tuna sashimi. My one complaint was that we were rushed to finish our meals. The staff had their jackets on and were pacing by the front door. They were open until 10pm, but started rushing us out by 9:40pm. They actually walked out right behind us at 9:50pm. We had only gotten there at 9:20pm so expecting us to order, eat, finish, and pay in 20 minutes was a bit crazy.

Service lacks. Had to remind the server what I got multiple times.
Didn't bring out my soup and salad until after the entree came out and I told him I never got it.
Made a snarky comment like ohhh you must come here often.

Restaurantji Recommends
We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. We waited an unusually long time just to have our order taken, and when the food finally arrived, it was extremely late. The staff didn’t seem attentive, and overall the service was very poor. We saw that the chef was eating food while making food. Definitely not what we expected. Definitely won’t be returning.

I ordered the Shrimp Tempura Box, Pork Bun'Fried', Chicken Tempura Roll, Gyoza, and the Fried Noodles. Let me start off by the pork bun Fried. I highly recommend it. it's very delicious. I was not expecting that at all. the bento box was very yummy, fresh, and delicious as well. this was my first time trying this place, and it did not disappoint at all everything was so fresh. I recommend you try this place ASAP. I promise you'll not be disappointed this place is now in my top 3 Japanese restaurants in rochester. So far, I'll definitely be ordered and / or going there to eat again. Thank you so much, Taisho Bistro.

**Terrible experience – never coming back**
I came in excited to try this Asian restaurant, but everything went downhill fast. The food was cold, bland, and poorly presented. But honestly, that wasn’t even the worst part.
The most disturbing thing was witnessing how a new employee was treated by a lady that I belive was a manager. Just because he didn’t speak English well, one of the managers started yelling at him in front of everyone. It was humiliating, aggressive, and completely unprofessional. You could see how nervous and uncomfortable the employee was, and no one stepped in to stop it.
This kind of behavior is unacceptable. Between the awful food and the disgusting way they treat their staff, this place deserves zero stars. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Waiter doesn't understand English, barely any food for the price, soup is weird and just tastes of carrots....not worth it
