We went to Zemeta hungry and left stuffed! Over half the buffet is vegan! They will dish up the food for you. I asked them to fill my plate with everything vegan and not too spicy. Everything was delicious!
Great food, ample parking, lots of choices including vegetarian and vegan, pleasant dining area, fast friendly service. All of the afore mentioned and its very reasonable also. I don’t think I will be cooking much anymore. If I missed anything assume it is there. I don’t usually take time to write reviews but I needed to pass this info on to people interested in healthy great tasting food. Try it, you will like it.
Zemeta is my go to Ethiopian food! As soon as you walk in you get the smell of Zemeta making fresh Ethiopian coffee (which is very strong!) the food is so delightful! It is a buffet sort of layout and she has a whole side dedicated to the vegan section! She definitely loads up your plate and she is the sweetest person!
One of the most fulfilling & delicious vegetarian meals I’ve ever eaten & the owner/chef was so kind & generous; one of a kind. I wish I would of known about this place sooner 😋

What a great experience. The woman running the place was so nice; we told her we’d never had Ethiopian food, so she fixed us a sample plate packed full of everything—rice, lentils, chickpeas, curries, collard greens, cabbage, chicken, beef, lamb, and the spongy injira bread on the side. (You eat by tearing off pieces of injira and dipping into the curries, but she has forks as well.) Everhthing was sooo flavorful and just the right amount of spice! I especially loved the spicy lamb. One plate was $17 and was plenty for 2 people to share, with a little leftover to go. Will definitely be back!

Delicious food, quick service, super friendly staff. Unique flavors, but a great mix of sweet, spicy, and savory. There’s something there for everyone, but I encourage you to try it all!

Small place with very friendly staff. We went for Saturday dinner and it was all you can eat -- they serve you a plate at the counter and you can specify, ask for a mix, and ask for more as you like. They told us what was vegan as soon as we approached the counter. I liked everything! Several good dishes we recognized from other Ethiopian places -- yellow split peas, spiced red lentils, cabbage, green beans and carrots. The green lentils were a special treat, as was a spicy potato dish. A real family vibe. Very enthusiastic welcome when we came in from the woman who seems to be the owner/head chef. She and other staff came around while we were eating to ask how things were. We were there at 5:30pm (pretty early!) and the six or so tables were full with families. Brought our teen exchange student with us and it was a great first experience of Ethiopian food for her! She enjoyed being able to try a little bit of things at her pace and go back to ask for more of what she liked.
I am so happy! Zemeta is back! Ordered takeout and life is good. You won’t regret it.

What a gem in Rochester! Zemeta and her family are so welcoming and nice. The food is very flavorful, fresh and filling. I get two meals out of the vegetarian platter, because it’s that filling, so it’s nearly $8 per meal - what a deal! Thank you for the delicious food! :-)
