Super friendly and patient staff! My kids were so indecisive but the staff offered a tasting to help my kids decide! We finally ended with rainbow ice, mango and coconut and vanilla flavors! There is a Sandy backyard and a lot of fun for kids!

I love Mom and Pop shops, so this place is a real gem. It's about two blocks from Rockaway Beach, so it's a great stop to enjoy before and/or after a beach day... or any day, really. They have such great flavors; your usual flavors, and creative concoctions. I went prior to going to the beach and got a mango sorbet and came back afterward for their cheesecake ice cream. Both were very delicious ?. They even have a beach theme in their outdoor seating area, including sand!! This is a definite repeat locale for me when I'm in the area!!

I want to start by saying that I love Mara's Ice Cream. I love the flavors, and the variety. However, I don't appreciate the way I was treated there. The staff is not friendly to those who live outside the neighborhood. Anyone who looks or acts like they are from the Rockaways is given a discount. While I went in dressed for an upcoming party and wanted to stop on my way to the train station for a snack, I was obviously dressed nicely and was well put-together. I ordered my standard order, which is very minimal and only had ONE add-on in addition to the ice cream itself, which was two small scoops. I didn't order a pint, or anything fancy, and was not even given full scoops. The price was ridiculously high. I hate to say it but I wouldn't recommend this ice cream parlor to anyone from out of the neighborhood, or if you're just dressed well. It's sad that I was treated in this manner. You will be judged based on how you look, and the pricing will be according to this judgement rather than any set prices. If you're just visiting, skip out on Mara's. So sad that I even needed to leave a review like this.

This hidden gem is one of the best ice cream parlors in New York. A scoop of campfire s'mores ice cream in a pretzel cone is heavenly! The girls serving the ice cream are so kind and friendly.The shop is wheelchair accessible and gets great cross ventilation between the open door and backyard. All seating is outside! There is one table on the sidewalk and a bunch in the backyard. A must while in the Rockaways !

Close to the beach ice cream parlor with a large variety of delicious flavors including boozy ice cream! They also sell candy and slushies. We promptly received service and were patiently waited on as we reviewed all the flavors and asked for samples. I got the s'mores ice cream and my boyfriend got the pot of gold. Both were really good! The parlor has a very relaxed ambiance that could be perfect for dates or family outings.
