The finest listening space I know. Don't go to Lena's for the refreshments, although they are outstanding. Go for the music, which is more outstanding and important. I engineered 'Lena's Open Door', for a few years. Lena knew her stuff about the folk and acoustic music of the day. I am confident that she still would were she still alive today.
Caffe Lena is a nice place to enjoy and artest or two and relax. The food was better than expected. We will go again.
Good acoustics, efficient staff, and great show. Their coffee isn't bad, either.
The best coffee house with such incredible entertainment. Such a special place!
Intimate listening room. Good acoustics. Light fare and desserts. Coffees and teas. Chairs fine for dining; but a but incomfortable for an entire show. Difficult to locate entrance door. No parking associated with the venu. Easy ticket process.
Wonderful warm intimate venue and top notch music!
I came to Saratoga Springs as a Skidmore student in 1978. I had heard about Caffe Lena and how people as famous as Bob Dylan and Don McLean had played there. I intended to go soon after my arrival, but alas, 4 years later, I had never made it there.
I lived in Connecticut, New York City, and briefly Boston after a graduated college, but moved back to this area in 1998. Caffe Lena was still open, and I again resolved to go, now that I once again lived nearby. I finally made it---last week!
The place was renovated several years ago, and so is now different than it would have been had I gone sooner, but it is a very nice place as it is now. On the night I went there was a bluegrass jam, a monthly event that costs a mere $5. They have a light fare menu that impressively includes Boylan Soda (with real sugar, not HFCS). Since it is light fare, you may want to eat your evening meal somewhere else before coming here, but they do have interesting desserts.
They also sometimes do have some well-known people performing here. Al Steward of "Year of the Cat" Fame is performing there tonight (8/27/2024) and tomorrow. Rory Block has also been there recently. These shows tend to be much more expensive then the bluegrass jams. Open mike nights are also only a few dollars admission.
Enjoyed a Martin Sexton show recently...nice venue &
good sound! He had the whole room singing...as usual! ???
Wonderful intimate and historic venue to listen to world class artists like Paul Winter, who we saw there last night
A wonderful venue to listen to talented artists, perform & enjoy music. Thank you!

Caffe Lena has hosted my private voice students for their yearly recital for the last two years and we are blown away again by the beautiful space, and excellent sound and video options, and especially by the kind service of the staff on the day of the recital. We hope to be back again and again!
What a wonderful venue for live music. So many different shows and so much support for artists everywhere. There are programs that support children - encouraging them to become involved with music. It's the oldest running coffee house in the country, begun in 1960 (?) It's been re-imagined and they've done a great job. Staff is very friendly, space is open and welcoming. There is a nice little menu to order from. I was impressed to see that they still have the original wood doors - though now they use them as decoration - so much history, highly recommended.
Great place to go and listen to music. It is a true listening room. Food options are limited. All wait staff are volunteer so tip heavily (if you can). The tickets are first come first serve so to speak... if you order first then you get the best seats!
A nice place to go to see a live show, have a drink and a snack. Check there lineups and order ahead. Amazing sound and it's the oldest coffee house running in the country.
One of the best, most intimate venues we've visited for bluegrass music. Loved it!
