Amazing meal with the family!! Best bread with salted butter and steaks we ever ate!! Side dishes too and the staff was amazing!
Another beautiful evening at Salt & Char. They were a little understaffed, but the food made up for it. Delicious as usual.
Excellent food, very bougie presentation and portions. First time here, excellent service. Bring your pocket book very very pricey because everything is ala carte even butter.
Salt and Char is one of the best restaurants in Saratoga Springs, NY, and one of our favorites.
We enjoyed sharing the Delmonico streak. The creamed spinach and potatoes were cooked to perfection. Fas grois was amazing. Our guest equally liked the seared scallops. The birthday party in the back made for a noisy meal for us. Service could have been a little more attentive.
Our server gave an incredible experience and offered fantastic wine pairings for each plate. The food was to die for. Well worth the cost of experience.
I brought my fiancé here for her birthday in December. It was early in the evening and we noticed that there were two table open by the fireplace; I asked to be seated there, but the host informed us that someone had specially reserved them. Throughout the duration of our meal, the tables remained empty while we had appetizers, entrees, desert and drinks after the meal. The host was a bit indignant and the waiter was ok, but the food was good overall. Fast forward, my daughter asked to go to Salt & Char for her birthday. I reserved a table here on Open Table with a specific request to sit by the fireplace and for her birthday. To be safe, I called to confiirm a week in advance and the gentleman who answered the phone said, “we have your note to be seated by the fireplace for your daughter's birthday.” When we arrived the hostess attempted to seat us at a table in the corner, to which I noticed an empty table for 8 in front of the fireplace, so I told her about my request and call to confirm, but she couldn't care less. She told us a large party had called in late to make a reservation so they gave them the fireplace seating I requested weeks ago. The waitress told us that the manager was giving us our first round of drinks for free for the inconvenience; she was very nice and did a good job, but free drinks are no consolation. Unfortunately, our meals were quite underwhelming, which solidified our negative experience. I've hosted fellow executives, family and friends here for many years. A slow errosion in customer service and quality has overcome this place, which was once the epitome of class and elegance. Last night I witnessed something very different; two separate tables of drunk patrons yelling and acting like they were in a dive bar in a back alley and a management team choosing an incremental revenue grab over obligation. A memorable experience to be sure, but not a good one; however it will be our last. New management is sorely needed here!
My main course fish was bland - lacked flavor. Had to asked for crushed pepper for my salad.
This is a first class operation. Finally ...FINALLY a restaurant that has outstanding service as well as excellent food. Miles, our sommelier knows his wines, knows how to present it and knows how to serve it properly! This will be a restaurant we return to when we are in Saratoga again.
Steak was ordered to be rare plus and came medium. Sent back and it came well done. A restaurant that pushes their steaks should have a chef who knows how to cook by temperature. We like this restaurant but this was a disappointment.

The dinner was excellent beef carpaccio very flavorful great portion the way go steak was done to perfection perfectly cooked very flavorful
5 stars – Absolutely killer experience at Salt & Char! My party of three literally died last night... and it was worth every second. This was our second time dining at Salt & Char and it somehow keeps getting better. The Wagyu rib cap is hands-down the best piece of beef I've ever had in my life, perfectly crusted, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and so rich it sent us straight to heaven (or wherever food this good takes you). The sides were outstanding, the bread and whipped butter are dangerously addictive, and the cocktails were flawless. Service was warm, attentive, and made the whole night feel effortless. We left completely satisfied... and apparently never woke up. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. If you haven't been yet, go immediately, just maybe update your will first. We'll see you on the other side! P.S. Tell the chef we're still thinking about that rib cap from the afterlife. Perfection.
The scallop with pork belly and sweet cake appetizer was a great combination of flavors. The king crab leg was shared with perfectly cooked filet mignons. Sharing the chocolate creme brulee was a nice way to end the meal. The service was excellent.
Exceeded our expectations - service, food, and atmosphere were amazing. We will be returning soon!
Between the service (they bring a stool for your purse so it does sit on the floor ...who does that?!) and the best Creamed spinach EVER not to mention the over-the-top deserts this is one of the best restaurants we have ever been to he roasted Bison Loin was even better that the filet 10/10!
