Worth the adventure to get out to Shelter Island. The half chicken and sea bass were both delicious. Incredible atmosphere. Chefs are cooking right in the middle of the restaurant over an open fire.

Perfect way to start Christmas 🎄. 2 glasses of bubbles, fabulous food, great service by a roaring fire 🔥
Leon 1909 is a gem. From the thoughtful space to the over the top service and, of course, brilliantly executed food & drinks, this place is the spot for those who can appreciate an entire experience. The menu evolves around the seasons & the concept is constantly pushing boundaries. I recommend checking out the speakeasy-like cocktail program on Fridays & snagging a deal with the Thursday burger special!

What a shame-seems with the prices and menu they’re going to deliver a high caliber level of service/dining experience…. But no where close…. Chaotic service, staff lacking the right experience to serve the clientele they’re attracting, they give off huge ego but don’t understand why cause it’s very apparent ran by amateurs not to mention it’s been open 2 years without one award or major review given only written about in local media like Dan’s Paper and shelter island reporter

These guys bring it, nightly. Got a buddy that lives nearby and makes this his regular spot. He's lucky. Legit all the way around, including the bread program. Well done!

It is unfortunate when our anniversary falls upon a crazy Labor Day weekend, but this year it did (Aug 31), and we chose Leon to celebrate it. First of all, the service was seamless at every level. The Caesar salad was outstanding, something very important to me, and the roast chicken to die for all paired with a recommended bottle of white that I’d never heard of before but it was spot on. Delicious! Thank you Leon for the memorable experience.

1 hour delay for food after ordering. 3-4 different waiters / waitresses served our table of two which resulted in us asking for the same thing multiple times (15 minutes to get a wine menu, for example). The host had no manners and no apologies / acknowledgement for the disastrous operation occurring. We sat down at 7:30 and received our food at 9:10. Total mess and disorganization. I got the feeling that they are either totally overstaffed or understaffed, not in between. In other words, it is easy to observe the inefficient service because many employees overlook and run right by the table at any given time. The business is not seamlessly run which you would expect for the price. The host (and manager?) on 8/29 never once said hello, please, nor thank you, nor acknowledged delays during the routine interactions a patron would have with him. It might be worth reconsidering who fills that role. Go elsewhere

Leon was our best dining experience on Shelter Island - we loved it so much we actually went back a second night in a row. The food was top-notch, with the chicken and pork chops standing out as some of the best. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and the open kitchen / fire lent a really nice and unique flavor.
Big shout out to our waiter, Charlie, who was fantastic—attentive and friendly, and he really went above and beyond to make both evenings special for us while we were on our babymoon.
It's true that Leon is on the expensive side, but considering that you're in a beach town at the height of summer, it’s to be expected. For us, we felt the quality of the food and service made it worth every penny. We can’t wait to come back!

Food was too salty and tile fish wasn’t fresh. Brioche great. Burger great. Steak just okay. Service was odd. Took multiple tries to get limes for sparkling water. Asked for dessert menus and the waitress balked — she wanted to clear plates first — like she had OCD. Was our anniversary and they surprised us with two glasses of Prosecco. Then found they charged us $18 per glass. Typically something like that is on the house. They also added 20% tip without telling us. Weird place.
