Commander Cody's Fish Shoppe

Quaint place good to get seafood they also have prepared food that is good a little expensive like everything on this Island.

As in the past, I had deliciously fried food today, and grateful that our friends who are locals on the island told us about Commander Cody’s and his menu!!!

Our first time at Commander Cody’s. We had the fried oysters, baked clams, shrimp cocktail, cole slaw, mac-n-cheese and cheesecake. My partner is in hospitality and i am a big foodie. The food was enriched with culture and you felt the soul, being a hoppa- I respect that. It was incredible and left me wanting to come back one more time before we head go back to Brooklyn. We will definitely make this our “go to” when we come back!! Thanks you Commander Cody for the photo op!

Unbelievable! The food is incredible. Specially the fried oysters, mac and cheese, baked clams. Atmosphere and staff are amazing. Commander Cody is warm and such a great host. Cash only. Well priced! Parking done the driveway. Not a clue why anyone would less that five stars!

Commander Cody's came though on short notice.I forgot to orderShrimp for our bowling dinner in advance, but I was able to get 5 Lbs of shrimp cocktail with in a few hours quickly. They made up the shrimp and it was absolutely delicious. Everyone loved them.Thank you!

Commander Cody’s Fish Market is a mainstay on Shelter Island. Owners Jimmy Hayward and his daughter Amanda, serve the best fried chicken and assortment of smoked fish that people come from far and wide to enjoy. Recently I stopped in and got containers of prepared food from their fridge: potato salad cole slaw, ribs (to warm up at home) and smoked bluefish, and it was absolutely delicious. The smoked ribs are to die for, by the way. With family-run restaurants with a personal touch becoming such a rarity in this area, we are fortunate to have Commander Cody’s here on our little island. During peak times in the summer, the parking can get a little tight so parking on the street is a good idea. Following a Hamptons magazine review, Commander Cody’s got “discovered” and during the summer it is often best to order hot food in advance. As is often the case for the best, there might be a wait, but the outcome is worth it.
