Sat in the new beer garden area, and the roof top was partially open, since it was a bit overcast. Great area for a party or bigger group. Had the avocado toast- I am never disappointed! Home fries are crispy and cooked well, honestly the best breakfast place out east!
Great food and great service! And reasonably easy to get a reservation. Our new go to place!!
Lively, crowded restaurant on a Tuesday night with great food, ambiance, & wine, but our polite waiter was clearly overworked and forgot our 2nd drink order. We also regret the renovation work that kept us from sitting in the outdoor garden. We hope the garden space reopens soon!
WE HAVE HAD DINNER AT "SHIPPYS' MANY TIMES OVER THE LASAT 3 YEARS, BUT THIS MEAL WAS OUR FIRST BREAKFAST. AS WITH DINNER, THE BREAKFASTS FOR A PARTY OF 4, WAS EXCELLENT. SUPERB SERVICE FROM START TO FINSIH.
It's rare these days—especially in the Hamptons—to find a restaurant where the owner genuinely cares about your experience. But every time we dine, we receive top-notch service, great food, and, most importantly, a real sense that they appreciate our business. After 25 years in Southampton, I'm grateful that this place exists—cutting through the typical Hamptons attitude with warmth and authenticity.
Ok but wanted to order Spaetzle with my veal Schnitzel, but not serving except diring October fest. Should not be a big deal to have Spaetzle. The restaurant specializes in German style foods. Large portions. Loud due to bar scene. Good service.
The food was surprisingly good based on appearances from the outside ( was under reconstruction at the time ) The menu has so many appealing dishes we will be going back soon to try more . Also looking forward to their soon to be open Beir garden with retractable roof ( if only the NY JETtS owners were as smart as the owners of Shippys maybe they would make it back to a Super Bowl??)
Second time eating in the same day. We went for brunch and were excellently impress to try dinner. The place is spectacular. The German item son the menu are delicious, and better than everyhting I had in my recent trip to Cologne. Drinks, dessett and service are perfect. If you are in the area, this is a MUST GO AND EAT. Spectacular restaurant.
The scallops are outstanding. They are crispy on the top and juicy in the middle and very sweet. They come with sauteed spinach and asparagus and small roasted red potatoes. Scrumptious. I have had them many times and this time they were even better if that is possible. Scallops are not top choice in seafood but because they are so good at Shippy's I always order them. I usually order fin fish instead of shell fish. So my recommendation as a fin fish aficionado is very strong. The burger is very good too. My wife had that and said the fries were tasty too. I am happy that they still carry the Guinness 0. I do not like Heineken 0 so having a choice is great when so many restaurants only carry Heineken 0. Shout out to Athletic beers, though. I wish people would buy domestic!! My wife ordered a Cosmo and she was very happy with it. This is a very good restaurant. I have enjoyed the German specialties also but the scallops keep calling me.
We went on Sunday for Father's Day, we arrived at 1:17pm the young hostess at the door told me my reservation was at 1:30 and she would seat me then. I was told to go to the bar and have a drink, there was 4 empty tables! We sat at the bar and at 1:30 we watched the hostess seat customers who came in, at 1:35 I sent my husband to see what was the delay! She then sat us at one of the original empty tables when we has arrived at 1:17! I had the Rueben sandwich, it was good, I just wish the sandwich was served hot. It was warm and the cheese was not melted! Also the entire time I sat at the bar, in a chair with empty chairs around me, the bartender never asked if I would like a drink!

We are frequent diners and always enjoyed our meals here. Yesterday's brunch was awful. The servers were incompetent. They were not able to deliver what we ordered correctly or a timely manner. The food was so bland and tasteless. We'll never come back for brunch again
I hope this place never changes! It's warm and casual, and while the food is Hamptons-worthy, it doesn't sell out to the trendy vibe. Stay gold, Shippy's! 💛
We love coming to brunch at Shippy's! The food is excellent, and you definitely leave full.
Decided to try this place during restaurant week. What a delight.....food was excellent and beautifully presented. Service was awesome.
Great dinner during restaurant week. First time here since new owners and renovations. Potato pancakes, veal schnitzel, and lemon pie all terrific, and generous portions. Only negative was it was extremely noisy with a full bar for their happy hour. Nevertheless, will return. Service and food were great.
