I’ve been a regular customer at this diner for about a year now, often bringing family and friends along. The wait staff is fantastic—always friendly, attentive, and helpful (definitely 5-star service). However, the experience falls apart when it comes to paying. The person handling the register, who I believe may be the owner’s daughter, delivers an incredibly cold and impersonal interaction. There’s no real sense of appreciation, and her "thank you" feels hollow, lacking any warmth or sincerity.
It’s unfortunate because I really enjoy the food and service, but this repeated cold treatment makes me feel like just another transaction, rather than a valued customer. It’s especially disheartening given how frequently I visit. The last time I was there, her dismissive tone was particularly dehumanizing. I’m now reconsidering whether I’ll continue dining here, and I’m actively looking for a place where the overall experience—including payment—is more welcoming.

Great local diner in Staten Island. Hugh menu with large servings and good prices. Friendly staff and plenty of parking. We visit every time we are in town.

This place is so ancient/outdated literally everything. It felt a little unusual and stagnant. The manager was standing by the stairs watching us eat it was eerie. It smelt like the carpets haven’t been washed in decades. We had scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries and french toast. While the server was bringing out the food. Very obvious a giant long hair was imbedded into the sausage. The server didn’t see it at all. We got the server attention after 10 mins passed. She saw the “hair” she took it back to get us a plate of food. The server came to inform us it wasn’t a hair it was a wire from the brush that the clean the griddle! The server also informed me that sausage was cooked the day before and reheated it! The server was super attentive but we will not be going back here. The only thing that was good was the rye bread and french toast.

This diner is a gem! The pancakes are delicious and perfectly fluffy. The breakfast options are fantastic and served in a cozy, authentic American atmosphere. Will never go here ever again. Waiter very pushy, did NOT receive what i ordered as the waiter pushed combo breakfast. He said the meal came wit home fries....it did NOT. The potayoes were mushed with green peppers.The waiter was pushing this mealMy wife ordered a swiss cheese omelet and cup tea and with lemon .he put a slice of lemon into the cup of tea...not a piece on the side!And charged us $2.60He took our menus before we could orderMy recommendation is go somewhere else for breakfast
