I feel sorry for students on campus. Even the food and price are not good, they do not have choices. Most of them have to dine here.
I am a non traditional returning student and I have to say that some of these posts knocking the quality of the food or the cleanliness of the dining areas are just ridiculous. Also the students complaining about the prices apparently have never eaten food in a restaurant before at least not where they were paying because I challenge you to get lunch which includes an entree, drink, and a snack for after for less than the $13 avg it has cost me to do so on campus. Sure the food is not five star dining but who expects it to be. All of the variety of locations I have eaten in have been tasty. Maybe if you are looking for insta worthy meals go off campus.
Food options are terrible. Cost is too high. Not seasoned. Food not cooked properly. Contracts don’t allow for outside caterers.
So awful. $9 for this little food at Tadka, not to mention it was tasteless and kinda gross. They are so stingy giving food to the point they barely even give one spoonful… “We use spices”— where? I didn’t taste anything. 100% sure my roommate and I got food poisoning from eating the chicken tikka masala with the basmati rice last night.
Very neat and welcoming place. They offer large meals and for economical rates. We loved the food very much and the waiters were super affable and explanatory. I recommend this place.
Very neat and accessible place. They provide big portions and for fair rates. We enjoyed the menu a lot and the staff were very welcoming and explanatory. Highly recommended.
The food is significantly better than what is available at west campus
They have everything you could want.

It doesn't matter who the provider is; it's all about the contract. The food is sometimes unsafe and has caused me and my friends to get sick at least once a month. Once the contract is about to expire they'll magically improve the quality for a semester, then once it's renewed, the food will taste like cardboard again and there's a new wave of food poisoning. I saw it happen since 2016.

Don't need to explain. Others have explained it
As president, I honestly have to say that the food is terrible, at best.
There is a new Food provider at the university and it is only fair that I edit/ remove my last review.
The food quality is getting worse. They only want your money and never response to your requests. Survey: From 0-1, how much do you want to recommend the food on campus? Definitely 0
Honestly some of these reviews make me laugh. I am a commuter student but I eat on campus daily. I've been in dining enough to know if the dining halls are dirty it's because students go in and make a mess (spills, food on table, floors, broken plates, utensils on floors etc) Every few minutes you see the staff cleaning up that stuff. And generally the dining is pretty clean. There are 2 dining options (East & West). East also has 6 retail options, Jasmine 5, Roth 3, GLS 1. There is also the SAC. If you are tired of the food in one location you can literally go to the next. You are not forced to eat at the same place everyday. Each food location is unique. For about $10. per meal that's good. It's not the ritz but I can say the food is better than a lot of places on the island and I can't name one university with better and a larger variety of meal options for students. It caters for Caribbean, Jewish, halal, Chinese, Korean, Indian, Mexican, American and Greek cuisines. I once had a convo with one of the chefs in Island soul about the spices as the food didn't seem as spicy as it should. He told me when you're cooking for a university not all students can handle all that spice so the food in general is tailored so that everyone can enjoy. If you need more spice you can add it to your specification. The only critique of dining I have is the prices (Halaal is too high, higher than average) and the East Side Dining Late night sucks, avoid. If you are eating late go to West. But, in general if you're dining is that bad it's because of you. That's like going to Burger king everyday and getting upset that everyday day the menu is the same. Get outta here with that!.
