If I could copy and paste Rina’s review from below I would because that’s exactly how I feel. My boyfriend and I have been coming here since they first opened and we come frequent enough that the staff knows us. Last night was our first time coming since they changed chef’s and I will say we will not be going back.
From the moment we walked in we felt rushed. The chef already had 2 plates prepared and was starting to serve before we even got our drinks. We were then being served the next plate without our dirty ones being picked up. I felt like the chef was wanting us all to hurry up and get out. The quality of the ingredients stayed the same but the quality of the actual food has gone down as well. I feel like it’s sub par compared to the dishes Chef Osan offered. The new chef mentioned several times throughout the night how his menu is “Americanized”… well I don’t go to Sora to get Americanized food. I used to go to get an experience and authentic food.
It’s a shame that Sora changed so much because they had a good thing going with chef Osan and the experience he provided. He would chop up fresh ginger and make fresh wasabi during dinning which was part of the experience. Even the waiters weren’t as knowledgeable about the dishes (not our experience in the past) and they lacked attention to detail throughout the night. For $350, we got nothing near what it should have been. I would say our dinner last night was worth $200 at best

An exceptional omakase experience from start to finish. Each course was artfully prepared, showcasing the chef’s skill, balance, and creativity. The ingredients were impeccably fresh, and the presentation was stunning. Service was graceful and attentive, creating a seamless, elegant dining experience. Truly a memorable evening — worthy of every star.
I hate to say this but I agree with the previous review below.
Please bring back Chef Osan.
The new chef has made too many changes. This restaurant is no longer what it used to be.
The service is rushed, the food isn't anything amazing. I won't be returning.

If you are looking for the best sushi on Long Island , come here. Omakase style. I wanted to treat my mother and myself to a special sushi dinner. We were taken away with the talents of the chefs. Everything that was put together was not only beautiful but ridiculously delicious. The expertise and execution of each prepared sushi dish was something I have never experienced before. Fish imported from JAPAN. You will try fish here that you will not be offered anywhere else. The chef cleverly creates traditional sushi favorites such as toro with a modern day twist. If you’re a foodie this place will not disappoint. I promise. Worth every penny.
Went here for my husband’s 40th birthday as a surprise and we loved it. The food and presentations were amazing. I didn’t get great photos because I wanted to focus on the experience and from first to last course we were blown away. Hope to go back soon.

Please bring back chef Osan.
I used to love this restaurant, but after my most recent visit, I wont be coming back anytime soon.
They’ve changed the chef and the menu, and it’s gone downhill fast. The menu now caters towards a more “Americanized” palate, losing the traditional flavors that once made this place special.
The appetizers are lackluster and underwhelming, nigiri was drowned out by vinegar, and the uni was poor quality- despite the chef’s unnecessarily repeated claims about how superior their stuff is compared to the other restaurants.
On top of that, the dining experience was extremely rushed. Two apps landed in front of us almost at once, AND the chef was visibly annoyed when my husband and I took a little extra time to enjoy one nigiri course. He scolded us loudly and said we have to eat it immediately or the flavors change as it sits. I understand the rules, but like, sir?? We are doing our best here!?
His attitude for the rest of the meal was almost as sour as the food. We didn’t even have time to enjoy our sake and ended up chugging the rest of the bottle at the end.
The only bright spot in all this was the fantastic servers, who did their best despite the disappointing food and atmosphere.

Wow...My fiancée and I came here on the recommendation of a friend. I could not have been more impressed.
As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for a long time, my favorite dining experiences are when I can enjoy the highest quality ingredients served in a way that I can't easily produce at home. On those counts, Sora does not fail to deliver.
You do not have to be an expert on Japanese cuisine to know that what you are eating is truly special. Master Chef Osan Weng prepares his food with graceful care. He diligently balances flavors--sweet, salty, umami--in such a way that it exemplifies the quality of the ingredients that he uses. When observing him prepare and serve his dishes, it is obvious that this man is truly excited by good food and wants his patrons to be as excited as he is. He will take the time to explain what you are eating, what makes it so good, and the manner in which you should eat a dish so that you can derive the most pleasure from it.
The quality of the service was also not unnoticed. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive--even to the point that he would wipe our plates between each piece of nigiri that Chef Osan served to us. With the sake pairings, our server explained details of each sake and why it paired well with the food we were about to eat.
The restaurant is small, but with a completely modern style that one could expect in any contemporary fine-dining establishment. Their choice of glassware and dishes are also modern, but acknowledge the tradition of Japanese cuisine and enhance the visual appeal of the already-beautiful dishes that are served.
I truly cannot say enough about how special this little omakase restaurant is. The Michelin Guide does not currently award any stars to a Long Island restaurant, but I can say that I have been to restaurants with a Michelin Star that do not exhibit the same quality and care that I experienced at Sora.
To put it shortly: If I were a tuna, I would hope to end up in Chef Osan's kitchen.

I was fortunate enough to spend my 13th anniversary at Sora Omakase.
Yama was a guest chef the night we dined and Damian was our server. Both gentleman delivered an amazing experience, while sharing knowledge, expertise & attention to detail.
The barracuda and the toro were highlights for me. My partner loved the sake pairings especially the Oze Rosé. We will definitely be back again!

Such an exquisite experience. The service was incredible from the greeting and seating to the wonderful presentation and explanation of all courses. We were delighted to sample so many delicacies from the chefs and truly enjoyed the exclusive feeling with their seating arrangement. Having your name printed on the menu which serves as a place setting elevated the experience beyond measure. Sora Omakase is a gem and should not be missed.
Dietary restrictions: The chef’s tasting menu is not something you can make adjustments to so do your homework before making a reservation.
Kid-friendliness: There’s no menu suitable unless your child likes sushi and the restaurant does not have tables. I don’t know their policy but I don’t think this a place for kids.
