Unfortunately, Marcello's is closing on Jan 23. We wanted to get there this week to experience once again the great food and service and support Marcello for all he has done for the community in the last 36 years.
The ambiance was so warm and welcoming, the service attentive and professional without being “too much” The food was an absolute joy.., everything we ordered was delicious. What a shame to see such a treasure depart the village. We wish the owner a well deserved retirement and the staff employment where they will continue to do what they do so we'll. Merry Christmas to all.
Delicious HANDMADE pasta. The taste is exquisite. The chicken was tender and easily cut with a butter knife. My husband had the pork and it was absolutely delicious! The food is excellent. They are not skipping anything here on taste. The bread is warm and has an amazing crunch. The tables are set with fine linen and China. The atmosphere is relaxing but fancy. The servers are accommodating and very nice and do not have a stuck up air about them. They are fast and professional. We parked on the street right in front of the building. I think there is more parking around the corner also. We came from NJ. The town is very cute to walk around also if you need to wait for a table.... it will be worth it.
Unbelievable restaurant!!! Tasty food, welcoming and friendly staff! The ambience of this place is spectacular. My wife and I went here for a date night and had a wondeful experience!!! We both highly recommend!
Great little spot. We have always loved it. It fell out of favor for a short while with us as they changed the menu and it wasn't the same high-level cuisine. But the current menu is fantastic!!! Really FANTASTIC. Best restaurant in Suffern and nearby areas.
Intimate dinner with extraordinary food! We ordered the prosciutto fig and gorgonzola appetizer and for dinner the spinach ravioli. The flavors ? were absolutely amazing!! Waitress was attentive and very helpful in making recommendations.
Cosy, quaint, inviting, welcoming, professional and friendly establishment, conviently located, less than a block away from the New Jersey Transit Rail Station and the Coach USA bus stop.I would have given them 5 stars however, there were quite a few gentlemen loitering in front. I prefer not to have to excuse myself upon entering a business.
Went there for nephew's HS graduation. The service was really poor and they were busy! Waiter forgot my sister-n-law's iced tea and her appetizer. When we said something, our inners were coming out and then they brought the appetizer! My veal parm was just so-so. Very pricey and this time nit worth it I know Marcello is selling the restaurant but he needs to keep up the quality and service. Next time my family suggests we go there, I'm going to tell them I ant to go to a different restaurant.
Terrific, friendly, service and lovely ambience. Strolling violinist was a surprise treat! We had short ribs (great), pasta a la vodka (yum!), and Marcello's is the only restaurant to actually serve gluten free pasta al dente, so it was deliciously firm and tasty. We had wonderful Irish Coffees as well. Overall, this was a great dining experience!

Only thing on my mind was the desert! ?Torta di Ricotta Italian Ricotta Cheesecake and yes our dinner was fabulous! And Marcello visited each table what a simpatico touch to top off our evening!
Big Disappointment on an Important Night hadn't been here in a number of years, but decided to revisit for a small gathering yesterday celebrating a very significant birthday for a family member. Marcello's was a disappointment on many levels. When one calls for a reservation a few day in advance to get a nice table for a birthday dinner, you would think they would let you know that the main dining room would be closed for an event and the only seating was in the bar area with no tablecloths, etc....they chose not to do that. Terrible action. The food was also disappointing. One item needed to be send back to bring it to proper temperature. Another veal item has to be completely remade due to it being tough, i.e. difficult to cut with even a knife. In fairness, the chef/boss come out and was moderately gracious and agreed to re-make the ailing item. It was better the second time around. The portions were modest size at best. Nothing was even close to exceptional. And it is a fairly expensive place. The service was okay at times. They made an effort...cut our birthday cake for us (for a fee), sang 'Happy Birthday', snapped a few pics for us when requested. But then they would disappear. Three times I had to get up from the table and seek someone out so we could order coffee, ask for the check, etc. The place was very quiet ( now I know why), so there is no reason not to have wait staff close by. They certainly weren't busy attending other patrons. We didn't let all of this ruin our good time, but it could have been so much more of a memorable night for the family.
Nice evening out at a local restaurant. The food was good but not outstanding. Atmosphere was very nice, it has the feeling of a local bistro. Good place for an evening out with friends.
Yummy Italian food…very consistent!!! Nice atmosphere and good, friendly staff!!! Violinist…really nice touch!!!
Dining at Marcello's is always memorable. The service and food are excellent. Of special note is that those dining for the first time were delighted that "gluten free" preparation was just a part of their fine dining experience! We will definitely be back.
