A+ Quality and A+ quantity ... If you don't give this deli a 5 star rating, we're just gonna have to assume that you own a different deli in the area. I ordered a roast beef sandwich last week. I had the first half for lunch and brought the second half back home and had it for dinner. their must of been a full pound of roast beef on this sandwich. I never met a sandwich that I couldn't finish in one sit down until i discovered Village Heros.

I have always enjoyed the sandwiches from Village Heros in Syosset, and have been a loyal and frequent customer for the past 30 years.Unfortunately, I will no longer be a patron of this establishment after a very disappointing and upsetting experience. I ordered 4 Wild Willy subs for myself and my family the last time I visited the store, and when I returned home to eat it, I noticed that the lettuce on the subs were brown and wilted (see pictures - the green lettuce is my own that I prepared for comparison, the BROWN lettuce was what was on my sandwich). Although the lettuce on my sandwich was by far the worst of the bunch, the lettuce on all of them were brown. I decided to call the store to share my experience, since I get the Wild Willy all the time and it was far below the standard of the restaurant. When I told them that the lettuce on my sandwich was brown, the man I spoke to proceeded to tell me that it wasn't. Confused, I repeated that the lettuce on the sandwich that I had just bought was, in fact, brown. He continued to argue with me over the phone that the lettuce on my sandwich was not brown, because he had the same lettuce he had used on my sandwich right in front of him.At that point, I told him something was amiss, and it didn't matter to me what color the lettuce was in front of him, because the lettuce on my sandwich was brown. He proceeded to continue to argue with me and asked if I was calling him a liar, then proceeded to tell me I was lying. He also shared with me that he has been working there for 50 years, which is a long time to have learned nothing about food quality, and customer service.I called because I was highly unsatisfied with the quality and freshness of food that I had purchased, that was not at the standard that I expect from this establishment. I desired a credit for the sandwich with inedible lettuce, but instead I was yelled at, insulted, and accused of being a liar.Instead of all of the drama at Village Hero, I'll just buy my own premade Tyson chicken patties (see pictures) and make my own sandwich that meets my expectations.

More friendly service, fresh food/lettuce, cleaner restaurant

Incredible onion rings in a crunchy seasoned ?beer? batter - if you can get them fresh and storemade. The bag / box premade stuff sucks and you'll get that if they run of time / ingredients. Insist on the fresh storemade onion rings and wait for it. It's worth it.

Village Heros has been a Long Island institution for over 20 years. It’s worth the drive if you’re not a local not just for their great hot heros and sandwiches but their delicious salads, including their tuna and potato salads. It’s a great place to pick up breakfast or lunch when going out on the road or to the beach for the day.

I have been coming to Village Hero for years now. It is definitely a hidden gem that people probably drive by hundreds of times with out realize what they’re missing.
