Place was dead when it first opened at 12 on a Saturday, but I can imagine that it gets quite lively later in the day/night. There was a good variety of beers. Personally, I'm a sour girlie and appreciate any Gose or Sour beer that I can find so I was pleasantly surprised that there were actually 2 on the menu for me to try. Friendly staff, too, and some entertainment on the TV. You can bring your own food. Parking was a bit of a hassle, but maybe there's some spot nearby we didn't know of that would have been better than street parking

I've been coming to Mean Max since the Marie days. When they said they were opening a second location in Troy I was skeptical that they would be able to replicate the special place that is Mean Max. But they managed to out do themselves - starting with a proper, larger, sign. Next they placed this tap room right on Monument Square so there are great restaurants around. The tap room is brighter than Glens Falls on account of windows front and back and has its own vibe...but the beer and great customer service is the same. Well...for the most part. They do have a special lager exclusive to this location (quick tip - look up their Glens Falls venue to see the menu at either location). Staff is always friendly and the beer has great variety - of which they all do well. Definitely a place to stop and visit.

A recent outpost of the Mean Max brewery with a good variety of tasty brews right in the heart of central Troy. They do flights but no food . Nice atmosphere with relaxing jazz playing when I stopped in. Friendly staff and a positive vibe. A welcome addition to the area and well worth a visit. Right next to the Capital District Center for the Arts.

What an awesome find. I didn't know they opened a location in Troy. It's just wonderful. Great beers and bartenders. Great tasting stouts which are a favorite of mine. No food but that's fine and typical of most breweries. Believe you can bring food in.

Such a fantastic taproom in Troy. Bartenders are great and there’s always new beverages cycling in and out of their taps.Love the vibes here, and really enjoy the weekly trivia night every Wednesday.

Awesome location, bartenders were great. Lots of different choices for drinks. They offer beers, seltzers, and some mixed drinks. Highly recommend for a night out or before a concert.

This place is a gem. Service was quick, beer was excellent. Every one I tried was a winner and bang on for the descriptions for both style and taste notes. Bartenders were fun to talk to. Plenty of room to move around inside. And there's a real darts set up in the back, like metal tips and bristle boards. Highly recommend.
