Gerber's 1933 Tavern Reviews
My mom, my sister, my brother, his wife and daughter and my wife and I were looking for a good place for dinner last night and I suggested Gerber's. The last time that my wife and I had been there was pre-pandemic, so it had been awhile. We had a great dinner and incredible service from Joe. Mark, the owner, was gracious and welcoming and his food was excellent. It was a relaxing evening spent in this quaint, local landmark. Great atmosphere and excellent beer selection. Took a chance on a stop through Utica while traveling. Mary the bartender was so friendly and welcoming, we had the Burger and Ruben with the Mac Salad, all delicious. Mark, the Proprietor came by to chat and told us the history of The Gerber, wish we lived closer than Chicago would definately make it our "local" pub.

Gerber's 1933 Tavern is a hidden gem in Utica, offering a speakeasy atmosphere perfect for a step back in time. The owner has done an amazing job of preserving the history of the bar, which transformed from a speakeasy on December 5th, 1933, to its current form. The staff is friendly and welcoming, ensuring that guests feel right at home. The menu features delicious options like fried bologna sandwiches, burgers, Lebanese platters, and Reubens. The burgers and chicken sandwiches are particularly praised, and the late-night meatballs are a must-try, served even during busy Halloween parties. With live music and a rich history dating back to the 1800s, Gerber's is a fantastic spot for hockey fans and anyone visiting the city. The attentive service and expertly prepared drinks contribute to the fantastic atmosphere, making it a truly authentic speakeasy experience.
