As always, the food at Nostro was really superb. Other experiences are more variable: read on. First, the atmospheric music at Nostro is so offensive we may have to consider other places when we dine. I have some difficulty hearing, so I'm more sensitive to loud music. BUT, my wife is not, and my two twenty-something daughters are not sensitive and we all agree that the music is so loud we have a hard time hearing each other. When we mentioned this to our “meh waitress” she did nothing to make it better. They just seem to think that people that are dining with them don't want to talk with each other. This may be true. Perhaps they all just want to stare at their phones. If this isn't you, Nostro's may not be your place. Second, the service here is widely variable. We often have waitresses that are absolutely wonderful. Other times (like tonight) we just get meh. The bartenders are absolutely wonderful. The sommelier isn't helpful and should probably retire. Again, the food is wonderful. The question is whether you want to put up with the rest. Perhaps Nostro's will read this and react appropriately.

We loved everything we got! They even gave us complimentary champagne because we were celebrating our anniversary. Some people complained in other reviews about the music volume but we enjoyed the music they were playing.

Ok so the wall is really pretty, and everything about the ambiance implies that its gonna be a show stopping meal with those gourmet prices - however 3 pieces of shrimp over some risotto... not $40. And corn ravioli? Thinking youre gonna get a sumptuous rav and its filled with corn chunks? Im sorry, youre nailing the aesthetic, but it feels like you forgot that people are there to eat.

Great service, food was delicious. Noise level for a nice dining experience is way too loud. Should be subtle in the background. It's a restaurant not a night club and it kills the ambience. Wine pours are very small. You get a nice generous pour in any 5 star restaurant. They charge a ridiculous amount for that. You get a 4 ounce pour in a large wine glass. Ridiculous! You get better pours at Tailor and the Cook and Turning Stone.

Reason for 4 stars instead of 5...their wine pour needs to improve. 4 oz for 17 bucks in Utica..no This is not NYC. All their pours are poor..😏 atleast go 5 oz or lower your single glass price a tad. Cocktails delish.

We had an amazing meal here not sure what the other reviewers are talking about. Arancini and pasta were outstanding and our desserts were also delicious. Would definitely recommend for a modern, trendy Italian dinner date.

We so enjoyed our anniversary dinner with Nostro! Cocktails & appetizers were lovely, we were impressed with the White Truffle Garlic Bread (a unique and somewhat delicate spin on a familiar classic ) The pace of the meal was balanced, great service. Handmade pasta for our entrees was absolutely divine, I'll be thinking about the Sweetcorn & Saffron Ravioli for years to come. This restaurant is a true gem of Utica, we will be returning again for dinner very soon!

Very disappointing experience. Service was terrible. It took forever to eat and it wasn’t crowded. Music was very loud. The chicken parmigiana was horrible. Wasn’t fresh chicken and was flavorless and hard. Panzanella salad was skimpy and small. A lot of onions and no peppers. Bread was very hard in the salad. They did remake my daughters dish because they put crushed red pepper on it and she couldn’t eat it. Considering that it’s expensive I expected better food. I will not return!!
