I went to Wantagh Inn recently and had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a bar. The owner came up to me — clearly drunk, barely able to stand — and randomly asked for my ID. I handed it to him without any issue, and even though I am 21, he told me I had to leave. The bouncer, who hadn’t checked anyone’s ID at the door, looked at mine under a light and said, “This looks good to me, it’s real.” Even he admitted my ID was fine, but then said, “If the owner wants you to leave, you gotta go.”
Meanwhile, none of the 10 people I was with were asked for ID at all. The whole situation was unprofessional and embarrassing, especially since I hadn’t done anything wrong. I’ll definitely never go back. I’d much rather give my business to Mulcahy’s — better atmosphere, better staff, and a place that actually treats paying customers with respect.

This place is a classic Irish pub. Big menu with lots of specialties. Updated prices with the full menu in my pictures.

Good food and drink. Service for our large party was not the best. Maybe just a bad day

The food was good and I plan to go back, but with only 2-4 people.
Out of 2 visits, one was with a server with an attitude, for whatever the reason. I still got what I ordered on a timely manner. Maybe the place was too crowded? Most of the other staff was pretty nice.
The women's bathroom is just weird and the weirdest placement.

Great place for a bridal shower. The food was great (it was brunch), and there was plenty of room for us all.

There's no place like a good Irish pub - and Wantagh Inn certainly fits the bill. Lively crowd showing sports on the TV gives off terrific vibes. But just as nice is the food side. While they have typical bar food like giant pretzels, hamburgers and sandwiches, they also offer better entrees and daily specials like chicken, steak, salmon and shrimp. Try the Shepards pie or the London broil sandwich together with a seasonal Sam Adams (or any of their other beers on tap) and you're all set. They didn't twist my arm very much to try the Oreo ice cream pie either. Will put this place into our dinner rotation. Small parking lot means you might need to find parking under the lirr but don't let that stop you

A truly amazing experience starting with a generous and thoughtful host who seated us shortly after arriving for a 630 Saturday night reservation, to great tasting perfectly dressed appetizers and dinners, and culminating with an amazing peanut butter cake desert. The old fashions were the best we’ve had and the bill was extremely reasonable. Thanks for an enjoyable delicious dinner.
