Great but small portions

This must be the best takeout sushi I have ever had. It was my first visit, but won’t be my last. Definitely going to be a repeat customer.

Love this place for sushi and market items. I always spend more than I want in here because the prices are good and the selection on asian products is great. I always get the candy/snacks and drinks for the kids and we get sushi rolls and appetizers. Will definitely return again

Bento-Ya serves up tasty, well-portioned Japanese comfort food that’s perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. The bento boxes are fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. A great spot for affordable, authentic flavors on the go!

I got a Shrimp bento box here. The shrimp was perfectly cooked.

The description didn't include the 2 dumplings that were included, so that was a nice surprise. It also had a very small portion of some sort of cucumber side, which also wasn't noted in the description.

It also came with a spicy tuna roll. It wasn't the greatest roll I've ever had, but I thought the price was very fair.

The salad was crisp and fresh.

The dumplings had lost a bit of their crisp because they were sitting in soy sauce - honestly, I preferred it - I know most probably wouldn't.

The miso soup was excellent. It did have tiny pieces of tofu in it, which I thought was low quality, but they were so tiny, and so limited, I don't imagine anyone would notice them if they were not focusing on them.

I'm no expert on white rice, but I thought it was fluffy and very good. It certainly wasn't dried out at all, which would be a huge turnoff for me.

From paying to getting my food, it was about 10 minutes. For a what appears to be a mom and pop type restaurant, I thought this was very reasonable.

They seem to be criminally unknown. Very slow. I am going to have to go back and try some different things to get a fair rating.

The staff (the individual I interacted with) was very friendly, and there was no accent barrier, which I struggle with sometimes.

When I asked how long they have been around, I was told about 12 years. Despite being on a major road, I had no idea they existed. This place is definitely on my radar now, though.

I would give it a solid 4.5 stars. Atmosphere brings it down to a 4 star overall, but I really don't care about atmosphere if the food and price are good, which it was here. And let's be honest - most of their business seems to be takeout.

Update 2025, they're still going strong. I love to see high quality family run restaurants like this one

It's an undiscovered gem, wonderful food whether you eat in or order take out. Suki is adorable as well, she tells some funny stories!

My go to sushi takeout spot

This is a review of the grocery store, which is attached to the restaurant. I purchased a sushi making kit and needed some fresh ingredients. My local grocery store only had a few basic things but Bento-Ya had everything I needed. They had literally all the hard to find Japanese ingredients, sauces, rice, and seasonings you will ever need to make sushi rolls.

Great place for takeout sushi and to pick up some random items from their grocery section. The family likes to try a random drink and dessert along with our meal and I like to grab some seaweed salad from the fridge.

Pretty decent sushi and bento place. I came here Friday evening for some quick dinner. The place is small and limited in parking spots and few tables for dine in. They sell some groceries besides food, price is tiny bit higher than big Asian groceries. I got spicy tuna rolls and chicken teriyaki. It took less than 10 minutes for the food to get ready. Tuna roll was big and rice is soft. Chicken teriyaki was okay. I enjoyed the salad came with the meal. Overall it was a good dinner.

Amazing little spot! The food is delicious; we got chicken cutlet bowls and the portions were generous. The eating area was also very nicely decorated :)
