“Excellent food. I had the mashed potatoes with cabbage and green onion as a side to my medium banger burger. The mashed potatoes had just the right amount of butter. A perfect portion and a match made in heave with the Banger Burger! The burger was cooked just right, and the sausage on it was delicious.Riley, our server was amazing. She gave us ample time to overlook our menus. E everything from appetizers to entrees and drinks came out in a timely fashion, and Riley made sure we were ok!Chill vibes and good seating allowed for a comfortable space to eat. Live music for outside seating was great, and just the right noose level for me to hear my fellow friends.“

“Loved it! Very nice gathering place. Also provides parking. I was there for a benefit/fundraiser and found it to be a great place to hold such an event. There's plenty of space, a kitchen and Bar. It also has multiple rooms for use. Two thumbs up ?“

“A South Buffalo favorite for a reason, have never had a bad bite to eat here. Fish fry followed suit did not disappoint! Breaded and beer battered, my beer batter fish looks small but it was a good 2 inches thick and made up for, length, lol.“

Gene McCarthy's Old First Ward Brewing Company Brewery • $$

“I came from Canada to try authentic Buffalo wings. We went to a restaurant recommended by a friend's friend, where I tried the wings sprinkle with recommended blue cheese. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, and it made for a enjoyable lunch. Many locals were dining there, and I was surprised by the volume of today's special menu. It's a popular spot among the locals.Since it's also a brewery, you can enjoy various delicious beers. The restaurant is located in a residential area, and its appearance resembles a house, making it easy to overlook. There are also days when they have live band performances at night. The jukebox and the presence of four-leaf clovers inside the restaurant added to the ambiance.I bought beer as a souvenir for my husband, but it wasn't bottled; instead, they poured the beer from the dispenser into an empty can and sealed it, making it literally fresh beer to go.I definitely want to visit again.“

“First of all, Ryan - the bartender, is awesome! This was our first visit, and hopefully not our last, to The Blackthorn Restaurant & Pub. The service - again, thank you Ryan - was superb. The atmosphere is outstanding. And the food was amazing! The Soft Pretzel Sticks with honey mustard & cheese sauce was definitely the Starter to get! Then, upon the recommendation of Ryan, we got the Triple D Platter which consisted of items from the Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives: mini beef on weck, Irish beer soup, mini crab cake, and tots! Will definitely be going back when we're in town next time!“
