We were in Lake Placid and saw this nice looking restaurant so we stopped in. What a nice find. Everything was good. Melissa was ever so helpful and friendly. as was everyone we encountered. Duck and venison were menu offerings - not your basic rural eatery.
Huge venue, compared to other nearby places. There are a few different seating options available: bar, casual dining downstairs, and a bit more upscale option on the top floor. Be mindful, both dining floors have different menus with different dishes. Even though it's possible to order from either one of them, the service is very flexible.
There are not that many dining options in the vicinity that offer fresh and good quality food, but this tavern does. I did like...

The camping trout was dry and too salty, too much bacon and spice on top of a delicate fish. The duck wings were expediently sweet and too salty. French onion soup and salad were fine. We asked for a table by the window when the dining room was nearly empty and we were not accommodated.. The waitress was very good though. This review is for the restaurant. I am not sure what the tavern is. Confusing!
