Lagos At Portage Lakes

I had an incredibly disappointing dinner experience at Lagos in Portage Lakes. I went there with my wife, expecting a pleasant evening, but it turned out to be anything but that.

First of all, the restaurant was far from busy, with only 4 out of approximately 20 tables occupied. Despite this, the service was incredibly slow. We ordered calamari and red pepper dip as appetizers, and it took an astonishing 40 minutes for them to arrive. This is an unacceptable wait time for appetizers, especially considering the restaurant was not busy.

When we inquired about the mahi mahi tacos we ordered for the main course, the waitress informed us it usually takes about 40 minutes from the time we ordered. So in my mind they should have been coming out about the same time as the appetizers since they were ordered about 5 minutes apart.

I asked if the delay was because the restaurant downstairs was busy, thinking they might share a kitchen, but the waitress rudely informed us that they don't share a kitchen and that everything is made from scratch which is why it takes so long, everybody who comes here knows that, and that it's worth the wait.

After another 25 minutes, the waitress came over to apologize, saying they were indeed sharing cooks with the other restaurant due to the holiday weekend. This contradictory information was frustrating, to say the least.

To make matters worse, another 20 minutes later, the waitress came over and confessed that she had never placed the order for our tacos and asked if we just wanted the bill.

There was no offer to comp any part of our meal or even a portion of it, which was incredibly insulting given the poor service and long wait times. That lady has us waiting there for an hour and a half before mentioning that she never even placed our order.

She didn't even bother to check on the food after we inquired about it the first time, let alone after the second time coming to us saying they are sharing cooks. She didnt bother to check until we had asked out for our bill so that we could pay early and just leave once we had eaten the tacos.

After all that we just payed our bill for the appetizers and pop and left. My wife tried calling back to speak to a manager and none would make themselves available.

Overall, the entire experience at Lagos was a disaster. The service was slow, the staff was rude, the appetizers were average, and the lack of accountability is appalling. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and will certainly not be returning.

Had a great experience here! The food was absolutely delicious and they customized some of the menu items to fit my need for gluten-free! The waitress Shelby was amazing and very nice and the chef T Was very good at his job and super generous!

I cant say anything good about the food. Cook messed up every order at the table many times. Service was mid at best. The cook actually quit after we left because he did such a bad job. Still had to pay too. 0 stars.

where to start. I was OK with being out of short rib meat. I was OK with us waiting for 20 minutes when we were the only customers for a burger and a Mac and Cheese meal. However I was asked how I wanted the burger cooked and stated Medium Rare. When the food finally came out it was well done. I had 1 1/2 bites and could not eat more. No one came by to check on us. When someone did come by to clear plates and asked if I was done I said yes it was way over cooked. The employee went to the bar and spoke to the bartender. I thought I heard her say it would be taken off. Nope I paid 16 dollars for a plate of fries and a dry over cooked burger. The employee who took our plates was not who took or order and didnt even ask how I had asked for the burger to be prepared. I am not the person to create a scene nor should I have to chase down an employee to speak to a manager. I would rather speak with my wallet. Another employee came by and asked how we were and if should could get us anything. I told her we were not good and would not be back. I took a breath to explain our disappointment and she just walked away. Apparently she did not want to hear it either. We wont be back and I certainly will not be bringing friends there.

Had some drinks and appetizers at Picks and found my way up to a Lagos. Chef Taron recommended the short rib tacos. They were amazing. Our server, Ivy was very attentive and fantastic. Highly recommend.

Excellent food and service. Had the Lake Perch...delicious. Friend's Filet was sent back to cook more. Smoked gouda risotto is my favorite side dish. Cod dish was excellent as was salmon.

Absolutely horrible food. We were overcharged, the food was cold and missing ingredients that they were out of , salad didn’t come out until after main dish, and it took 45 minutes to get our food (only 10 people were in the restaurant)!

I ordered Faroe Island Salmon and none of the items on the menu came. They replaced the food with something else without even telling me. My fish was dry as well. Not a good experience at all!

Wow! Incredibly good lunch for $9! The sign out front is advertising $8.99 lunch so I figured I'd tried it and I was certainly surprised. Plenty of menu options and good ones! I had the perch sandwich and it was incredibly good and my friend had the pulled pork tacos and they were great.I highly recommend Lagos for lunchNow I will have to come back for supper.

Awesome food and service. Such an enjoyable atmosphere. Lobster ravioli with clams my wife ordered was great as well as the strip steak.

I had a amazing experience tonight at Lagos. Chef Taron. Thank you for coming out and saying hi to us guests. It matters! Also thank you for the desert I can't stop thinking about it. Those crab cakes were the best I ever had. Ray I know your only there on Tuesday and Thursday's! Your excellent service with chef Taron in the kitchen. Doesn't get much better than that. Congrats team Lagos!

This was a great experience overall. The drinks and service were top notch and my cheddar mac and cheese was absolutely phenomenal

This is the worst restaurant I have ever walked into. We had reservations at 6:00... we were about 5 minutes early. After being seated the waitress came to the table and we ordered. We ordered a bunch of food/appetizers and a couple of drinks. It took 20+ minutes to get the drinks. After 1 hour we couldn't find our waitress. I went to inquire about our food - we hadn't even received the appetizers. I talked to the manager and he said he didn't even see a ticket for our order. Being completely taken aback and ‘shocked' that we were not even kept informed (since our waitress was MIA) we walked out. There were a couple of tables that were occupied but they had staff to accommodate. The waitress was not competent, didn't know that food was when we inquired. She had to leave to find out. The manager actually followed us out when we left and tried to say that he didn't tell me that the ticket was lost. He only said ‘the food will be out shortly.' I guess that could have meant before 10:00 since that when the kitchen closes. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!!

My first impression of the restaurant was that it was very nice. It was super pretty and very clean. We got seated and right away water came out for our table. The service was a little slow but they were all super friendly. We did wait an hour for our food and when we got it, it all came out at once. The food was outstanding though.
