Old Carolina Barbecue Company - Alliance

I recently visited Old Carolina BBQ in Alliance with my family, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. While the food was satisfactory, the overall atmosphere was made uncomfortable due to the behavior of the on duty manager.

During our visit, I noticed several employees working hard to serve customers and maintain operations efficiently. However, the manager appeared to be sitting idly by, offering no visible support or teamwork. Watching the staff work diligently while the manager remained disengaged created an unpleasant and unprofessional impression.

As a customer/ food service worker, it’s disheartening to see a lack of leadership in an establishment that depends so heavily on teamwork and customer service. My family and I value a welcoming environment where employees are supported and morale is high, and that was not the case during our visit.

I hope management or ownership takes this feedback seriously and ensures that leadership at this location reflects the same dedication and work ethic shown by the team members who are putting in the effort to make the restaurant run smoothly.

My girlfriend and I eat here quite a bit and never had anything bad to say except for my visit today... (10/4/25)we waited a good 7minutes before anyone came to the counter to take our order...I ordered a build your own burger with lettuce tomato, onion with a side of fries...my fries were burnt and my lettuce tomato and onion was from my girlfriends true Q salad.i have ate dozens of burgers from here and never got my lettuce tomato and onion chopped on a burger...oh and as I sit and eat this food cuz im starving by this point I can see that manager and employees are outside doing whatever and a customer at counter waiting for a few minutes before anyone returns to their job and takes care of him...the tables we're sticky and 4 of them still had trash on the tables....ridiculous and unprofessional

We got the sliced brisket sandwich and the mini bar-b-q sandwiches, carolina style and rancho style. We had 1 side each cole slaw and Mac and cheese. Pulled pork was OK but wasn't very pulled and was fatty, I had to take out of sandwich and pull it. Brisket was a little dry, Mac and cheese wasn't creamy, the pasta had absorbed all the liquid, and the coleslaw slaw should have been shredded better. We live in Virginia, North Carolina border so thought it might taste like home.. nope . Staff was nice, restaurant appeared clean. Music is throw back from 80's Micheal Jackson, Whitney Houston and too loud. Spent $32

Old Carolina has pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, and burgers. Great fries and sides! They have a drive thru and you can order ahead or at the restaurant. Real food, fast service, and great prices. There is usually a short wait at the drive thru if you don't order ahead. Been less than five minutes for me.
