Atmosphere is nice, but the food was mediocre at best. Service was very slow & had an unorganized feel to it. I got the cod sandwich & it seemed like a frozen piece of fish out of a box. Bbq was dry & ordinary. We only get to that area once or twice a year, but don't think we will be back.

Had an excellent meal of ribs mac and cheese coleslaw and corn bread. It was all so delicious! One of the best bbq meals I’ve had in a long time! Topped it off with a craft beer. Generous portions too. Definitely recommend!

We dropped by for dinner at the Briquettes Smokehouse in downtown Ashtabula, Ohio. We went with the Two Meat Combo which was smoked pulled pork and we substituted the chicken for the beef brisket. There was an up-charge ($4.00) for the brisket, but it was well worth it. We had a choice of two sides and went with the cold slaw and the broccoli salad. The cold slaw was the vinegar type and the broccoli salad was creamy. All of this was topped off with Jalapeno-Cheddar Cornbread. We added a pound of the smoked chicken wings with the cajun seasoning. All of our choices didn't disappoint. All were very good and of the highest quality. The portions were very liberal in size. In fact, we shared all of the above between the two of us and neither of us left hungry. The service was great. The atmosphere was pure smokehouse. They have a full bar and a kid's menu. Parking is on the street, but that shouldn't be a problem in downtown Ashtabula. They don't take reservations, but that shouldn't be a problem either. They have ample seating. Enjoy!

There is nothing better than sitting in old downtown Ashtabula watching the draw bridge operated while eating amazing BBQ. Perfect setting and great food and service!

This has been 1 of my favorite spots for High Quality delicious REAL food and many different choices of wine, liquor, mixed drinks and beer, of wich they stock alot of local and small brewery to choose from.. For the price of a big Mac meal I got a pulled pork, side of Mac cheese and some of there homemade sweat & tangy BBQ sauce wich is so good I put it on Mac cheese as well. The sandwich musta weighed atleast 5 lbs an was so juicy with flavors I let it run down my face while eating to save for later. . Not tht I needed to because I couldn't even finish the whole sandwich let alone meal.. Deff recommend a visit here an the historic harbor in wich its located.. Any money spent here is well worth it. .

Last night was our second time dining at Briquettes smokehouse and they impressed us both times. Alex gave us amazing service!! Also the food was top notch. We got the dueling bones and loaded chili fries. Everything was delicious!! You won’t regret giving them your business.
We have been going here for several years and I always get the same wing dinner… always good. Not today! Got the wing dinner but it was drenched in sauce, completely deep-fried gooey. I have never seen them like this!! If the menu says smoked you expect smoked. Now according to the person who brought out my order they are smoked and deep fried… why? So they make me take other of my food off my plate and take the wings back to the kitchen… low and behold they come back deep fried and plain with sauce on the side claiming that’s how we always serve them! So I guess I at least had cold fries and some pickles to eat! Sorry Briquettes NEVER coming back!

Well, this is probably the worst BBQ I’ve had. I got the brisket sandwich and the brisket was extremely dry, i could slap it against the table and it wouldn’t move. When I went to put bbq sauce on it to maybe make it not so dry a bee came out of the bottle which was lovely. It’s been a day now and me and my boyfriend got food poisoning from that place so I wouldn’t recommend!

We loved this place! The waitress was awesome and she recommended the Big Nasty! We took a ton home and we will definitely be back! (Even though it is an hour drive from home)!!
We had a group of 7 on a holiday weekend and were very impressed with their ability to seat us right away. There is tons of outdoor seating with the tables being far enough away from each other that you don’t feel like you are invading someone else’s dinner. The food was good and the service was excellent. The view from the patio was very nice. I would highly recommend!
