Fantastic!!!! The fried plantains are the best I’ve ever had- melt in your mouth.
My new favorite spot, best food in town! Tried the oxtail with rice and it was a 10/10. Will be back for more!!
From the start of walking through the door I knew this place was going to be good. I decided to go with the Oxtail, and it was soooo good! I ate everything on my plate and the gravy was to die for. I love going to different places to eat and this was one of the best tasting restaurants I've ever been to. The host was so nice and helpful, and Mauvette was nice as well, and she can COOK! I will make this place a regular every time I am in the Area!

Mauvette's offers the best food in town, likely the best in Athens. The menu features delicious dishes like lamb chops, mahi mahi, jerk chicken, fried chicken, soups, and desserts. Specials like the oxtail stew, nicely spiced and falling off the bone, are a treat. The plantains are a must, and meals come with rice and peas. It is real Jamician food with a friendly and welcoming staff. The owner is amazing and sweet, taking time to explain the specials. Every dish is delicious, encouraging guests to try something new, as there is no going wrong. It is worth it and a place to return to regularly.
