Horrible service and absolutely no attempt at service recovery from the staff. Way overpriced and added gratuity when it was not earned in any way. Please save your time and money and eat elsewhere.
Awful service - it took over half an hour just to get our drinks and chips and salsa. Food was mediocre. It was also very expensive and 18% gratuity was automatically added for a table of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids). 2 of us didn’t even order food and our bill was over $150. I used to frequent this restaurant while I was in graduate school at UC; it has definitely gone down hill. My family and I will not be coming back and I will not be recommending it to others anymore.
The food was really good. Super different than I'm used to in the best way possible. I had the jerk chicken fajitas. I would definitely do a takeaway from here again.
Oddly, everything in this place was a little sticky. I assume it was unrinsed cleaning fluid. But between that and the rather gross men's room, I probably wouldn't eat inside again.
But again, the food was a banger.

Best salsa in Cincinnati, great nacho salad
We have been going here for more than 20 years. It has been quite awhile since we ordered from there but the place is seriously run down and smells (not in a good way). Our food was takeout and I had ordered two different dishes but they both looked the same except for the meat. Don’t waste your money. So disappointed.

This place was confusing. I was expecting Mexican food but it seemed like a highly Americanized menu and all over the place. I got fish tacos that were mediocre and overpriced for what they were. They had no flavor and I’m pretty sure the fish was just frozen breaded fish sticks. My friend got pasta and it was disgusting, we both disliked it (was also overpriced). The vibe was meh, the service was okay. I do not recommend going here and I should’ve gone to los potrillos down the road.

Gone are the days of fun happy hours and great food! We were really disappointed when we ate dinner there a month ago. They were out of ingredients for their most popular dishes! They were out of shredded cheese! No shrimp and no meat for the Three Pigs in a Blanket. New ownership has really turned this place around in a negative way. I have really great memories there over the years and luckily I will always have those.
It appears that new ownership may be transitioning the restaurant away from the Mexican fusion that we have come to know and that’s ok. Just be upfront with guests right away that you are out of ingredients before they start ordering food so they aren’t disappointed as we were that evening. It’s really too bad.

We stopped in for a drink, and the margaritas were delicious. They also spun out some chips and salsa and WOW the salsa is maybe the best I ever tasted!!

Cactus Pear used to be our families favorite Mexican restaurant, with a unique smoked tomato salsa and excellent nacho salad. Unfortunately the food quality has declined since Swami retired and sold the restaurant. The salsa is wildly inconsistent and the restaurant seemed under staffed. Salad meat was very cold and rather disappointing.
