I loved the atmosphere and customer service. The meal I had was great. The best shrimp & grits I’ve ever had.
Was very unimpressed with the service. Found hair in my food, just informed the waitress and they she informed her manager, who then says she needs to see the hair. Showed the manager the hair then the owner proceeds to come out to analyze the hair and inform me that the cooks don't have hair! SOOOO UNPROFESSIONAL! DO BETTER BLACK ESTABLISHMENT! The service was slow, food too salty, member of my party NEVER received her food, but you pressed about the hair I found in my food!...read full review

Even on the 9th day of being open, the food was pretty good and better than expected from a new staff. Highlights include the spring roll with chicken appetizer, the chicken and watermelon dish, the potato soup, the salmon egg rolls, the grits, the Nola bowl, the wings, the lamb chops, and the chicken salad. The presentation of the food is excellent, and the waiter is warm and cheerful, making the overall experience very comfortable. While some dishes, like the grits, could use a bit more cooking time, the fried chicken is seasoned to perfection, and the pork chops are beautifully seasoned as well. Overall, Ida Mae's Juke Joint shows a TON of potential and offers a pleasant experience for its guests.
